What to do with leftover wedding items?

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: General

Anyone have any ideas on what to do with leftover wedding items? I have a ton of wedding bubbles and wedding invitations from my wedding this past July and I’m not sure what to do. The bubbles we are thinking about just giving to our godson since we have no friends or family with upcoming weddings. The invitations though are another thing. I know I can’t really give them away but I’m wondering if there are crafty or creative things I can do with some of them. I have 1 for the scrapbook and 1 saved in the event I do get the Vera Wang photo frame that has a placeholder for an invitation but after that I’m drawing a blank. Any good ideas?

Tell Me Thursday – October 8, 2009

This entry is part 11 of 11 in the series Tell Me Thursday

Yesterday for my Wordless Wednesday post, I left you with a simple photo of gold ballet slippers but didn’t give any hints as to what they represented or why there was a great photo of used shoes. I thought today I’d share through photos how those shoes come into play.  These are from the getting ready phase of my wedding this past July.

Basically, they were my wedding shoes as I didn’t want to be taller than my groom.  I also wanted to spend my day in comfort so I just pulled these from my closet as I tend to wear them to work and on the weekends some and put them on.  They worked out wonderfully and I’m so glad I went with these over some other fancy shoe.  It is kind of funny to see how pretty they were in that photo yesterday since I wear them a lot and I didn’t bother to clean them at all.  LOL

Photos were taken by Morgan Lynn of MorganLynnPhotograhy.com and the photos were taken at the Magnolia Hotel in downtown Houston.

Stumped on your groomsmen gifts?

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: Wedding

Mike and I found while planning our wedding that one of the hardest things relating to your wedding isn’t what flowers to choose or what flavor of cake you want. It was actually what do you give the people who help you throughout the entire planning process and on your wedding day. Gifts for the groomsmen and bridesmaids can be one of the hardest things to pick especially if yall have been in a lot of weddings together as the ideas can dwindle really quickly on you. The other thing we had to be wary about was picking a gift that fit our budget without looking too cheap. I think we succeeded with the feedback we’ve received.

Mike’s choice for groomsmen gifts were engraved cufflinks in an oval shape. They were absolutely gorgeous and look very expensive. Luckily for us we bought online so the actual price was under $30 for each pair! You can opt to do a first initial or all three initials for your cufflink engravement.

Another great idea is the engraved pocket watch I love the look of an engraved pocket watch. It is very old fashioned but such a great conversation piece if you wear one to a special event. Pocket watches also look much more expensive than they actually cost when it comes to groomsmen gifts.

If you are just stating out in your process with buying your groomsmen gifts pay a visit to VIP groomsmen gifts. They have a great selection of groomsmen gifts with a wide variety that should fit every groom’s wedding party. The prices are very reasonable and can keep you both on budget and underbudget without much effort on your part.

Tell Me Thursday – September 10, 2009

So yesterday I posted this photo for my weekly Wordless Wednesday meme. So now I’m going to tell you about it since it is…

So this photo is from the hair salon right before we headed over to the hotel to finish getting ready for the wedding. I had done a hair trial a few months earlier and my original style was more of a messy bun. That style was very tight and after wearing it for a few hours I decided it was not the style for me as the bobby pins started digging into my scalp. Ouch! So back to the drawing board I went.

I couldn’t find a photo of exactly what I wanted so I tried to find photos of fronts that I liked (ie bangs) and then described what I definitely didn’t want (slicked back, buns, french twitst, etc). I also had relatively short hair so my hair dresser instructed me to head to Sallys to get clip on extensions. So off I went the day before the wedding and ended up with a hair piece from the Paris Hilton collection in Paris Blonde which matched me fairly well.

Still not knowing exactly what I wanted, I just turned myself over to my hair dresser and 1 hair piece and 3 hours later I ended up with this masterpiece. It was nothing like I imagined but it was beautiful. It stayed the entire night with the help of a few extra bobby pins and just slid down a little but did not weigh me down or hurt. I think it took a good 30 minutes of me lying face flat on the bed to get the pins out at the end of the night but it was totally worth it.

So big props to Edward as he did a fabulous job. If you are in Houston go pay a visit to Marbella Spa & Salon.
