Wow this week has flown by. I was hoping it would have lasted a little longer especially since all of my bosses are out of town but it seems like the opposite has happened! I have slowly been knocking things off of my to-do list and finding things that I can work on at work that I have never worked on before (development points
) so it has been nice to have a few spare moments to find places and things I can step up and work on for the first time. Plus it makes me look like more of a go-getter.
I don’t have too many plans for this weekend lol. Let’s see:
- Girls night Friday - I am really excited about this because it will be with a few acquaintances and my Maid of Honor so it will help expand my circle here in Houston
- Saturday AM - help Maid of Honor move apartments
- Saturday afternoon - Go with Mike to find a new home for November. Yup we are moving in together!
- Saturday PM - get to Buffalo Wild Wings early enough to secure our own table for UFC Fight Night (before the UT fans get there too). We have to cheer for Chuck Liddell - the former accountant
- Sunday AM - go to the Houston Zoo for a visit
- And at some point Saturday & Sunday I need to hit the gym.
Yeah I think it will be a quite weekend don’t you? How is your weekend shaping up? Any fun plans?
I forgot to give an exercise update. I mentioned earlier in the week how I was setting a goal for August to run 4 times a week at least 4 miles in total in those 4 times. Well this week I made my goal! I was super excited when I realized that I made my goal while running on the treadmill. I hope to meet this goal next week as well and add in some weight training as I didn’t do a lick of that this week. I only did so so with the diet so that will be an added goal for the rest of the month as well. Ok off to enjoy watching Georges St. Pierre kick butt!

I wasn’t sure if the weekend was ever going to get here. It has been a roller coaster of a week and I am just so glad the weekend is here. The week started with me being in the midst of filing a 10-Q with my client, being thrown into a Tropical Storm, and then learning that Mike has to start packing every Monday and head to work in Beaumont for the next seven months. Luckily it has worked its way to 4 days a week 3 nights away from home. We finally got the Q filed and now I can relax. I have a hair appointment in an hour to touch up my color and then I think we are doing movie night or game night at home. I can’t wait though I think I need to turn on the air conditioning because it is HOT!
I think my weekend will consist of cleaning out, going to the gym, and watching UFC 87 tomorrow night. UFC 87 is going to be a really good fight night so I am excited. Hopefully it won’t leave us disappointed and the fights all won’t go to decisions which are never fun.
Any good weekend plans??
I am always looking for a unique idea for a Father’s Day gift or male birthday gift. I hate the standard of giving shirts or ties. Nothing against those that do but I just don’t feel like it is personal enough and similar to giving a female socks and underwear. Just not my thing.
So this year, I have my father leaving for England and my mom mentioned a photo of the family and I mentioned a digital frame for it so that seems like a good choice. Now I have Mike’s birthday to figure out. With our upcoming wedding, we decided no major/expensive gifts this year for birthdays or Christmas so I really really need to find something unique and special and budget friendly. I started thinking of everything we like and came up with a theme: Mixed Martial Arts - you know UFC! Mike and I just happened to be at our local Buffalo Wild Wings a few years ago on the night of a fight and decided to stick around to watch it and boy did I get hooked. I love UFC and so does Mike. So on my search today I found some MMA Gear that would work well -> Tap Out board shorts and a book about the UFC fighting style written by BJ Penn (one of my favs) that I thought Mike would like to flip through. The best part is both items would be under $80 and would be a unique gift! I’m super excited so I hope it goes over well. I have 1 month till I find out.
