Mike and I have small habits that we have developed over the years. One of our habits is the nightly watching of Cheaters and Blind Date. I don’t know which one we started watching first but it extended to the other show and we now watch both. I tend to prefer Cheaters but lately there are so many reruns that I’m preferring Blind Date. But I am digressing (no surprise). The point of this post is to talk about commercials. These shows run on a pretty low budget local channel here in Houston. Because it is a low budget station, we see the same slimy commercials each night throughout the shows. It seems that party lines and male enhancers are the commercial of choice but every now and then you’ll get an education commercial thrown in there. The past week I have noticed that our favorite commercial is no longer running. I don’t know if their advertising budget ran out or if they are out of business. The commercial was for a party line/dating service and had the a catchy jingle. I guess even in these hard times people can’t pick up the phone as often as they use to in order to call these “hot” girls. Well a new month is about to start. We’ll see if they are just another victim of the economy or just have a small advertising budget.
Well no wonder I enjoy watching the tv series Samantha Who? so much. The show was created by Cecelia Ahern the author of Love, Rosie and PS I Love You. I was doing a google search the other day to find out what other books Cecelia has written and just to learn a little more about her in general and her background and I found this little tidbit out. If you are not familiar with Samantha Who? it is a comedy that premiered on ABC last fall. It was in the 7:30 pm CST time slot for a while before being moved to 8pm CST. It makes for a great Monday night when you watch CBS’s How I Met Your Mother and then flip over to watch Samantha Who?. The show’s premise is that Samantha had an accident and suffered amnesia and has lost her recent memory. She slowly relearns the things she forgot and discovers some funny and not so funny items from her past. It is quite a funny show and one that will leave you laughing after each show. It has been renewed by ABC for this fall’s schedule so make sure you tune in.
I remember growing up and each Sunday at 6pm ABC would show a Disney movie as part of their Wonderful World of Disney series. Somewhere along the lines ABC and Disney quit doing this and a void was created. Lately, I’ve noticed Disney movies playing on Saturday nights on ABC. As usual, I did a google search and found that Disney has restarted their Wonderful World of Disney night on ABC. This time around it is being held on Saturday nights rather than Sunday nights. Either way I am excited especially since Mike and I are usually home on Saturday nights and unsure what we should do or watch. Now we can just flip the tv to ABC and watch a fun Disney movie!
Here is the upcoming schedule so you can plan a family night with your loved ones:
- July 5th -> Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
- July 12th -> The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement
- July 19th -> Freaky Friday
- July 26th -> Peter Pan
All shows begin at 8EST/7CST and are of course on ABC!

I have never had a knack for decorating. I blame it on inheriting an analytical brain rather than an artistic brain. My brother actually has a fantastic artistic brain but I am digressing. So back to my thought last night.
I am in the middle of a major clean up and clean out. I haven’t really sat down and gone through anything since I moved into my apartment. That was 3 years ago and man oh man have things piled up on me. So right now I am a shredding, donating, cleaning machine. I actually feel really good when I can spend a few hours and sort through 2 or 3 bags worth of items and determine if I’m keeping, tossing, or donating.
Last night while I was cleaning, I started thinking about ways to cut down on the number of “furniture items” in my rooms. As I glanced at my tv I thought maybe buying a lcd mount might be a good space saver.
I don’t know too much about mounting a tv on the wall but the one I have is a fairly light-weight Samsung lcd from last Christmas. Its no larger than 20 inches so it shouldn’t be too hard. Plus there seems to be a large variety of mounts (sizes, shapes, brands) out there so probably buying a few to see what they look like would be the best thing. That way I could find one that fit my tv and looked sturdy enough to hang on the wall and then return the rest. I haven’t tried this before so is there anything I should be aware of?
