This entry is part 24 of 29 in the series Teaser Tuesdays

So here is the premise behind Teaser Tuesday:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!
  • Good morning all! How are you handling this weather change? Me – not so well. One minute we are cold and rainy and the next we have this nasty mugginess all over. I am very much looking forward to spring.

So this week I am finishing up The Other Woman by Jane Green. I’m hoping to have my review up later today or tomorrow.

I suppose that if anyone had warned me, warned of the exhaustion, the loneliness, the loss of identity, I would either have thought they were lying or assumed that it may happen to other women, to other couples, but wouldn’t happen to us.

But of course it does happen to me, does happen to us.

  • Ack! October already. This year has flown by. I was just thinking about my reading challenges and I need to get a move on them. The problem is that I have grabbed other books along the way and read those books instead of the books I’ve been needing to read. Guess I just need to speed up and read both books on my list and books not on my list. I’ll be updating my status later today.

So today, I am featuring a teaser from a book I am planning to start tonight. This is one of those books not on any particular list but one I found at Target one day during my wedding planning frenzy and thought it might be interesting to read. It is called The Other Woman by Jane Green. The cover teaser for this book is “What can a bride do when her mother-in-law becomes… The Other Woman.” Did it get you?

“Linda and Michael had asked me a few weeks ago if they could be present at the birth, had said how much it would mean to them, that this was a moment they had always been waiting for. And I had been completely thrown.”

Well this chapter should be interesting. I had picked another 2 sentence teaser from the next page but due to language I didn’t want to post it here. I have to say I liked both teasers and this book seems full of drama!

  • I’ve been a bit of a lazy reader this past week. I thought I was going to finish my Blonde book but I have about a quarter left of it. I am still enjoying it thoroughly but I have yet to figure out which blonde I am in the book. My quote this week is from the Ironic Blonde Chapter. Enjoy!

“Which poses the great question: If a blonde in a bikini and a French maid’s apron winks at the camera to advise us that she is just imitating a blonde in a bikini and a French maid’s apron, does the guy opening a beer at the refrigerator see her as a savvy satirist of contemporary popular culture? Or does he just see a blonde in a bikini?”

  • Happy Tuesday! I finished up Little Women about two weekends ago and need a short break from blogging and reading for some reason. I am feeling recharged and reenergized to start reading and blogging again. While I thought the book was good, it was not a favorite of mine and I probably will not reread it for a very long time. I’ve moved onto a different sort of book. I found this book while browsing Amazon at the beginning of the year and the title just caught my eye. It is a comical book that explores the blonde throughout human history and tries to explain the obsession with blonde hair. I told you it was quite comical and “out there”. I’m about halfway through with this book and I am really enjoying it if nothing else than because I have a slight obsession with finding the perfect blonde hair color myself.

“The Moon Blonde is a projection of our fantasy of the dark side of the female, and we see her more frequently in advertising and movies than we do on the subway. When you see a Moon Blonde on the street or at a gallery opening or taking your money at the bakery, it is time to look closely at her. She is screaming something to you.”

  • Hope you had a great Labor Day weekend. I have to admit I am worn out and in need of another day off! I had a nice time visiting with my godson (21 months) but boy is he a handful. Then last night if you haven’t read my previous post yet, our air conditioner went out. To say it is hot here is an understatement. I am hoping that gets fixed by the time I come home from work tonight.

So I am in the final 100 pages of Little Women. I am hoping to finish the book in the next day or two. I was hoping to finish this past weekend, but didn’t realize how active a 21 month old really is and there was no chance in even reading 1 chapter! So I’m hoping this is the last teaser from Little Women as I am ready to move onto another book and I’m sure yall are ready for a new teaser as well.

I can’t argue about it, I only know that it’s the way of the world; and people who set themselves against it, only get laughed at for their pains. I don’t like reformers, and I hope you will never try to be one.
