Exercise Update: I’ve come a long way baby!

About 2 months ago I started running again. I was never much of a runner but this is the best way for me to lose weight so I figured I would try again. The first few times were quite rough. I would get out of breath and hot very fast. Sometimes I would get side pains. I was only running a mile! I tried not to get down. I would just continue running as much as I could and taking breaks as I needed to.

Well I think that method has paid off! I am now able to run 1 mile without stopping, overheating, or have major side pains. In fact, last night I ran 2 miles with just a short water break between mile 1 & 2 and another at mile 1.5. I am elated. I have to admit I totally forgot about how I was complaining and wondering if I’d ever be able to run without having issues and one of my exercise buddies reminded me that 2 months ago I couldn’t even run a mile. I’ve come a long way baby!

Accomplishment at the gym!

I have a small accomplishment I want to share with everyone.  It occurred at the gym last Saturday and continued last night.  I am conquering the treadmill! I have never been a runner. In fact, I use to fake injuries in school to avoid running days in PE and I avoided all sports that involved running. But a few years ago I decided I needed to start jogging and I made it up to 4 miles an hour and 2 miles in half an hour before I got lazy and quit. Last month, I decided I was going to try again and started running again at 5.4 miles an hour and doing half miles each run. Fast forward to my accomplishments this past week - I am up to 2 miles at 5.4 miles per hour each run.

I am averaging a good 2-3 runs per week and I feel great. I can’t believe how far I have come. I have learned to believe in myself and that goals can be accomplished and trying new things is good for you. So I encourage you to do the same!

One last update before UFC 87 starts

I forgot to give an exercise update. I mentioned earlier in the week how I was setting a goal for August to run 4 times a week at least 4 miles in total in those 4 times. Well this week I made my goal! I was super excited when I realized that I made my goal while running on the treadmill. I hope to meet this goal next week as well and add in some weight training as I didn’t do a lick of that this week. I only did so so with the diet so that will be an added goal for the rest of the month as well. Ok off to enjoy watching Georges St. Pierre kick butt!

August Goal!

I’m trying to establish monthly goals to motivate me to stay on the diet and exercise track. Last month, I developed this idea halfway through the month so I was only able to go with it for the last week and a half. My goal for July was to run 3 miles a week in total and to try and run 3 times a week. I was very surprised I was able to do so well. There was one week where I actually ran 4 days with 2 days back to back. That is pretty darn good being that I am so not a runner and am restarting this whole running thing.

This month I want to continue my progress and I am planning on setting my goal to be 4 miles a week and trying to run 4 times/days a week. Anything over 4 miles or 4 days will be a little bonus but I would love to make it back to where I was a few years ago when I could run 2 miles straight (30 minutes - I was slow at the time) and I would like to do that more than 2 times a week like I was doing in the past. I will let you know how it goes. So far I am at 1.5 miles from Saturday and 1.6 miles from Monday.

Exercise update: 6 out of 7 this week

Not too shabby if I say so myself! I was quite impressed that I hit the gym 6 times this week. I hope to repeat that this week but with it being quarter time that might not happen. I have a mini goal/challenge to run 3 miles a week till the end of July. I started this challenge on July 15th and made it 3.25 miles this week. I was quite proud and I made 2.67 miles the week before. So we shall see how this week goes.

I am also aiming to get back on Weight Watchers this week. I plan to be very strict with myself and stay within my daily points allowance and try to balance my meals between fruits, veggies, carbs, and protein. I really want to drop a few pounds before our September vacation and before I go try on wedding dresses in October. I know I can’t lose everything I want but I want a jump start. So wish me luck and if you need an exercise buddy leave me a comment and I promise I will cheer you on.
