It has been a few weeks since I have done a Disney Ride Video. I was working on editing my PhotoPass pictures and got into a rather big Disney mood. So off I went to find a video to match my mood. The video I found is for the Enchanted Tiki Room which can be found in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom. This is more of an attraction than a ride as you watch a show full of parrots singing and talking. Mike and I never made it to the show this time around but I had it on my try to do list and will put it on the must do list when we return in a few years. It is a great place to relax and cool down in the heat of summer so definitely give it a try on your next trip. It is great for all ages so why not?!

I have been posting quite a few Disney Ride videos highlighting some of the larger, more popular attractions. But there are many other rides/attractions out there that are lesser known and everyone in your family can enjoy them. Today, I want to share with you a ride that is not widely talked about other than it needs to be refurbished and/or replaced entirely. It remains at Walt Disney World because it is one of the original rides that originated at a state fair and then was placed into the park because it was Walt Disney’s favorite ride. It has remained fairly untouched since it was put into service in the parks and will most likely remain this way.
Which ride is it? The Carousel of Progress which can be found in the Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. The ride follows a family through the decades and shows how technology is entering our lives in multiple ways and how it is helping us. It ends with wondering what will be next. Enjoy the video below and definitely make sure you ride it once. It is worth it and it is air conditioned!
After reading some positive feedback on how these videos are helping people plan their Disney vacations I have decided to find a few more videos to share with everyone. Today, I am featuring the third and final Magic Kingdom Mountain (the other two are Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad), Splash Mountain. Splash Mountain is your basic “log ride” as I like to call them. I believe some people call them flume rides? The theming of this ride really makes it worth riding the ride once because it has the story of Brer Rabbit and gang and ends with you going into the briar patch like Brer Rabbit did. It is a fairly long ride but the story as you to to the top keeps your attention and you really don’t notice how long you have been on the ride.
Pros: great on a hot day (you get a little splash at the end of the ride), interesting story line, you get to see Brer Rabbit and gang which is hard to do nowadays, the drop is very fast
Cons: If you are a chicken like me you will not like the drop - there are no safety bars or belts - and it is pretty high, the ride is long so it may seem like it is dragging on, if you get offended by Song of the South skip this ride!
So now that we have that out of the way on to the video!
Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has 3 famous “mountain” rides. I have already posted a video about Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - a fun roller coaster themed around a runaway train in the wild west. The second mountain I would like to call attention to is Space Mountain. Space Mountain is another roller coaster ride and is located in Tomorrowland. The roller coaster is completely inclosed and is completely dark - similar to the Aerosmith Rock ‘n Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I am a fan of Space Mountain. It is a pretty cheesy/tame roller coaster but I am not a roller coaster buff so it works for me. The ride isn’t super fast and does not do any special things like flip or roll while you are on it. The main thing you need to worry about is keeping your hands inside the ride at all times. This is not a coaster that you can hold your arms up above your head or to your sides as there is track all around you and you really don’t want to lose a limb. If you have a member of your group afraid of the dark this might not be a good ride to take them on.
I found this video on YouTube to share. To be totally honest, the quality isn’t the best but this is a hard ride to video tape because it is completely dark. This video version is of the ride with the lights on. I thought this would be helpful to demonstrate that there are no loops or barrel rolls in the ride as well as to drill down my point of keeping your hands inside the ride. If you have someone nervous about riding this ride, this video will help ease their fears.
Continuing my Walt Disney World Parks Ride series, today I am presenting a video on the newest e-ticket ride: Animal Kingdom’s Expedition Everest. Expedition Everest takes you “climbing” up and through Mount Everest where you will come head to head with the Abominable Snowman and then on a wild ride out of that mountain! The ride is very fast, has a pretty steep incline, a few drops, and goes backwards. The going backwards part is what catches most people off guard and can cause some sickness after the ride. If you get motion sick or dizzy easily this is a ride you need to skip. If you are a roller coaster buff or would like a fabulous view of the Animal Kingdom this is a must ride. For me, I’ve ridden it once and I am very undecided if I will be riding this ride again in September. I think I will wait until I get to the park and see how I feel. The video is a home video from someone on the ride at Disney. It’s a little jumpy at times but I am impressed at how well they did and that they didn’t lose their camera on this ride!
