This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Saturday Social

While searching for a new Saturday meme, I also came across the Saturday Social meme. It is a fairly simple meme and one that you can do with little effort each Saturday but also gives you a peek into your fellow bloggers and learn more about them. So…

Today’s Saturday Social Question:

What anniversaries do you celebrate?

My Answer:

I do not have an anniversary yet but come July 11th of this year, Mike and I will be able to start celebrating our wedding anniversary. We are super excited and can’t wait!

Saturday Social Rules:

* Post your answer to the Saturday Social question(s) in your blog. Be sure to put in a link to this entry and the blogger who tagged you too!
* Come back, sign Mr. Linky and why not leave me a comment too ;)
* Tag your friends… better yet, tag a stranger (what better way to meet someone new!) You can tag 1 or 100, it is up to you. The more you tag, the more you will meet.

Hopefully when all is said and done you will have met some new bloggers, gained a few new readers and had fun!

Happy Socializing!

This entry is part 1 of 2 in the series Saturday 9

My other Saturday meme, The Saturday Special, ended in mid-April. So today, I went out and searched around and found a new meme that is similar and should be a lot of fun.

Welcome to Saturday: 9 . What we’ve committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do “random questions,” so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don’t have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today’s meme!

1. Do you feel that you have “a score to settle” with anyone? No I’m happy with how things are going and don’t tend to hold on to grudges that badly.

2. Do you own anything that you think is unbreakable? No I manage to kill everything I try to grow so I would assume that anything unbreakable I could probably break.

3. Tell us about a crazy thing you did in high school. I did camp out outside for NSYNC concert tickets. That didn’t go down too well when my mom caught me. The grounding was worth it though because I was in the first 10 rows.

4. Name the one talent of yours that you think is the best. I have a lot of things I’m ok at. Nothing I’m fabulous at. :(

5. Who wins American Idol? (if you don’t watch, tell us about a reality show that you do follow.) Isn’t Adam the one doing really well? I’ll go with him.

6. What is your favorite movie in black & white? It’s hard to tell what was B&W because they have made everything color now.

7. What is one thing advertised too much on TV? Enzyte Male enhancement pills

8. What is your current favorite TV drama? I like that new show. I think it’s Castle

9. What is your current favorite TV comedy? How I Met Your Mother

This entry is part 7 of 15 in the series Manic Monday Meme

Happy Monday everyone!  Has your Monday been as exciting as mine? (NOT!)  My day has been really dragging here at work and I think it is partially because I am tired after spending the weekend in San Antonio and because I am doing busy work today.  I hope the rest of the week speeds up and gets a tad more exciting.  As always, everyone is welcome to participate in the Manic Monday Meme.  If you participate leave me a comment and I will return the favor by commenting on your blog.  Also make sure to log in at the Manic Monday Blog (you can use the picture above to get there).

How often do you change your toothbrush? Every 6 months when I go to the dentist and he gives me a new one for free :)

What is your favorite item of clothing to shop for? Nothing really.  Everything is such a pain.  I guess if I had to pick one thing it would be shopping  for new underwear since I don’t have to try those on. LOL

Do you use social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)? Which do you use most often? I really don’t use it as much as I use to.  I log into Facebook whenever I receive a notice for a friend request or a new email message.  I can’t remember the last time I logged into Myspace and I need to set up a Twitter account.

My friend passed this email along to me today and I just had to laugh. I was born and raised there and every now and then I talk about something at work or with my Texas friends and they just look at me and go “what?” and I’m reminded that not everyone thinks the same way as me. Here is just a taste of classic Louisiana things (I can attest to some but not all of them).

You know you’re from  Louisiana when….

  • Your sunglasses fog up when you step outside, even in December.
  • You reinforce your attic to store Mardi Gras beads
  • You don’t look twice when you see pink flamingos in yards of nice subdivisions during Mardi Gras.
  • You save newspapers, not for recycling but for tablecloths at crawfish boils.
  • Your ancestors are buried above the ground.
  • You drink Community Coffee, have tried Starbucks, but don’t see what all the fuss is about.
  • You take a bite of five-alarm chili and reach for the Tabasco.
  • Every once in a while, you have waterfront property .
  • You sit down to eat boiled crawfish and your host says, “Don’t eat the dead ones,” and you know what he means.
  • You don’t learn until high school that Mardi Gras is not a national holiday.
  • You push little old ladies out of the way to catch Mardi Gras beads.
  • Little old ladies push YOU out of the way to catch Mardi Gras beads.
  • You believe that purple, green , and gold look good together.
  • Your last name isn’t pronounced the way it’s spelled.
  • You know what a nutria is but you still pick it to represent your baseball team.
  • Your town is low on the education chart, high on the obesity chart and you don’t care because you’re No. 1 on the party chart.
  • Your house payment is less than your utility bill.
  • You know that Tchoupitoulas is a street and not a disease.
  • Your grandparents are called “Mam-Maw” and “Paw-Paw.”
  • Your Santa Claus rides an alligator and your favorite Saint is a football player.
  • You cringe every time you hear an actor with a Southern or Cajun accent in a “New Orleans-based” movie or TV show.
  • You have to reset your clocks after every thunderstorm.
  • You’re walking in the French Quarter with a plastic cup of beer.
  • When it starts to rain, you cover your beer instead of your head.
  • You’ve eaten at one or more of these restaurants, AND know how to pronounce them: Prejeans, Tu Jac ‘s, Gallatoire’s, Ralph & Kacoo’s, Brunet’s, or Mulatte’s.
  • You eat dinner out and spend the entire meal talking about all the other good places you’ve eaten.
  • You call home just to find out what your momma’nem are having for supper tonight.
  • You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Louisiana

This entry is part 5 of 15 in the series Manic Monday Meme

Happy Monday everyone! I can’t believe it is lunchtime already. Where has the day gone? I have a pretty busy day at work ahead of me and hopefully a busy night too with going to the gym and getting paper work together to resolve this traffic violation tomorrow. I am hoping to get a little laundry done so I can wear my khaki pants to work tomorrow (they have been in the dirty clothes pile for 2 weeks!) so we’ll see how it all shapes up. Here are the Manic Monday questions. As always, everyone is welcome to participate. If you participate leave me a comment and I will return the favor by commenting on your blog. Also make sure to log in at the Manic Monday Blog (you can use the picture above to get there).

Are you a saver or spender? Lately I feel like all I have been doing is spending.  I have my 401(k) contributions going automatically each pay period but not much going into my actual savings account.  I hope to change that this month.

Do you prefer to walk around barefoot in your home? Socks? Shoes? Barefoot.  Shoes track around dirt and socks make my feet feel constrained

Do you talk to yourself? Sometimes I do.  Depends on what I’m doing like cleaning or working from home I might.
