Kick off winter with some Shoes.com coupons!

Winter is just not my favorite time of year. I think it is because of day light savings time. Days seem to get shorter, night seems to get longer, and boy does it get cold! To try and fight the winter blues this season, I started looking for a new pair of brown boots to wear to work. I found a cute pair of Jessica Simpson boots on Shoes.com but boy are boots expensive. With an ever changing economy and a bleak forecast I’m not too sure these will fit into my budget at the moment. I did find a 20% off Shoes.com coupons which I could apply to these boots and it would knock the price down by $18 and I’d get free shipping. It almost seems worth it. What do you think about them? I’ve used Shoes.com in the past and the service is usually fast with no problems. I’ve also worn Jessica Simpson brand shoes for years and they have all held up fairly well.

The place I found the coupon codes for Shoes.com has a bunch of other online retail websites offering coupon codes. The codes are free for everyone to use so if you are trying to save a dime like me, you might want to go pay them a visit. Think about all the money you can save by applying a coupon to your order.

Jeans for the curvy gal

Posted under fashion by The Blonde Diaries on August 24th, 2008 9:49 pm

No matter how much weight I lose, I am a curvy girl no matter what size the clothes read. I have been quite frustrated lately at the mall because the fashion designers are designing clothes for the girls who are pretty straight up and down, a la “straight fit”. Finding clothes for us girls with a little curve here or there or a little “junk in the trunk” is not so easy as it was a year or two ago. The other day I was walking around the outlet mall and noticed a curvy gal wearing a pair of baby phat jeans and noticed how well they fit her. I went and visited the website and it looks like these jeans are made for gals of all shapes and sizes - not just for skinny gals and not for large gals. It was refreshing to see and has given me a new designer to check out next time I want a new pair of jeans. If you are in need of some jeans and have a little junk in your trunk give baby phat a try.

Why am I feeling so bad about doing the right thing?

Posted under fashion by The Blonde Diaries on August 24th, 2008 2:26 pm

After spending all day Friday driving around Houston dealing with wedding vendors, my mother and I decided to have some fun and hit the new outlet mall up in Cypress, Texas. So off we went Saturday morning and everything was going well. Until I hit a designer jean store and saw a girl squat down behind a rack of jeans and rip the sensor off a pair of jeans, discard the broken sensor into a pile of jeans on the shelf and roll the jeans into her Gucci bag. Oh yes, I was standing nearby the whole time looking at the jeans on the shelf and saw it with my own two eyes and was just shocked.

I wasn’t quite sure what to do. Do I say something to her so that she knows someone saw her? Do I say something to a store worker? Do I keep my trap shut and say nothing? Well, choice 1 didn’t seem logical because if she would do this in the middle of a small store she wouldn’t give a flip and it could get ugly. Choice 3 wasn’t too good either because I would kick myself the rest of the day for allowing this chick who was probably in her early 20s to steal these jeans (True Religion - $300 retail, $200 outlet mall). So my gut said to go with choice #2. I made my way to the front of the store and found a girl at the checkout counter who wasn’t busy to explain what I saw and to point the girl out from the distance. She in turn went to the store security guard and relayed what I told her to him and I walked out because I didn’t want to be around. I’m not sure what happened but I was glad that I at least spoke up and told someone what I saw.

So I have continued to be bothered with this since yesterday. Almost guilty for saying something to the store but heck the girl was stealing and I would feel guilty for not saying anything. So maybe I am just disappointed that I actually saw theft taking place. I like to think that people are good and don’t steal but that was shattered yesterday when I saw it with my own two eyes. Maybe that is what I’m feeling and not guilt.

Has this happened to you? What would you have done? Is it guilt I’m feeling or something else?

Texans: One more day left on Tax Free Weekend

Fellow Texans, you have one more day till Tax Free weekend 2008 is over so make sure if you have something on your shopping list that you are wanting that you make it to the mall tomorrow. Mike and I went out tonight and hit up Forever 21 (well the XXI store) and picked up a few things for our Disney trip and work. We also did well at the Gap with me picking up some pants for work and Mike picking up some jeans. I will say that there weren’t too many sales going on in the mall so the savings won’t be too high but every little bit helps if you were already planning a trip to the mall. Also, the mall we went to (Memorial City in Houston) was a little more crowded than usual on a Saturday night so be prepared for light crowds. Remember the only things that are tax free are items under $100 that have to do with “school” - basically clothes, shoes, and school supplies

Back to School fashion at a budget

In the next few weeks kids all around will be heading back to school if they haven’t already. One thing that I know I was always excited about before heading back to school was finding clothes to wear when I went out with my friends. I always wanted to make sure I was in style and not wearing “last year’s” stuff. But with the economy and prices the way they are, it is difficult for many parents to drop a fortune to buy the latest fashions for their kids to wear to school or even just on the weekend.

Well, there is a way to help fix this and it is called Heavenly Couture. Heavenly Couture sells Cheap Junior Clothing in the latest style and trends. Everything on their website is exactly $17.95 or less. They have more than just juniors sizing. They sell cheap clothing to fit a wide variety of people. The site is very easy to navigate and it is so simple to shop. Just click on the item, input your size from the drop down and add to your cart. It’s so simple and yet while it is cheap in price it is not cheap in quality. These clothes will last the entire school year or until the next fashion trend hits. These are two of my favorite shirts that will work with back to school shopping. All you have to do is add a tiny cami underneath and you are all set!
