2012 Gossip Girl Book Challenge

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: Books
Reading with Tequila is hosting a Gossip Girl book challenge.  I noticed that I have the same issue: I have the entire series and have yet to start them.  Couple that with what I’ve heard about the tv show and the fact that these books showed up on a few banned/challenged book lists and these sound like a home run for me. hehe

After noticing that I own Cecily von Ziegesar’s entire Gossip Girl series, I realized I should get around to reading them. Especially if I ever want to watch the series (that is currently available on Netflix Instant!). Want to join me?

1. Gossip Girl
2. You Know You Love Me
3. All I Want Is Everything
4. Because I’m Worth It
5. I Like It Like That
6. You’re the One That I Want
7. Nobody Does It Better
8. Nothing Can Keep Us Together
9. Only In Your Dreams
10. Would I Lie to You?

I’m a European trapped in America

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: fashion

For the longest time I considered myself a lost soul from the mid to late 1800s. Sometimes from the 1950s as well.  The idea of being a frilly lady of leisure appealed to me.  I already suffer wearing such contraptions as bras, spanx, and 4 inch heels so how much worse would a hoop skirt and corset be? I’d do it for an 18 inch waist like Ms. Scarlett O’Hara.  Or what about cleaning house in a fun A-line skirt like back in the 1950s.  I appreciate the fight the women before me have fought but sometimes it would be nice to just be a woman who stays home to cook and keep house.  Sometimes I just don’t want it all – you know those days where work sucks and you have to come home and still do your share of the chores. Bleh!

Today I have decided I’m a European trapped in America.  Why? Well it is quite simple.  The Europeans recognize bra sizes above DD.  Not a huge deal until you get a true bra fitting and find out that Victoria’s Secret has been lying to you your whole life in order to sell you expensive and inferior bras.  When you are finally put in the right bra you learn that the rest of your fashion life will quickly go to hell.  Perky, supported boobs often mean your clothes won’t fit.  So you are left with the choice between (a) wearing a bra that fits, no back pain, and perky boobs but clothes that pull and gape all over or (b) clothes that fit and boobs that hang, sag, pull, etc.  Both options suck.

I’m super excited because I have found 2 new-to-me clothing websites.  Both sell clothes according to how busty you are.  I just can’t wait to place an order but I’m going to have to wait a couple of months because I just ordered more LSU shirts and some Forever21 pieces. Since one website is a UK site charging in British Pounds and the other is a  Polish site charging in Euros I will need a little extra money for the exchange rate and then the shipping charges.  That and I need to find my measuring tape since everything over there is measured in centimeters not inches so I have no clue what size I am. I need another trip to Europe soon.

Night on the Town

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: fashion

Playing around with my closet today and decided to do a board inspired by Kate Middleton’s famous blue Issa engagement dress. I have to swap my copy for a smaller size but I think this is going to be an outfit I wear to the two weddings I am attending later this month.

Just found Polyvore!

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: fashion

Ooh I’m excited. I just discovered the fashion fun that is called Polyvore! Polyvore is a site that allows you to use any photo online and create a fashion board of coordinating clothing pieces and accessories.  I am in the mood to do a little summer shopping soon so I’ve decided to start putting together some boards to see what items I must pick up from Forever21 when I go in a few weeks.  This is my first board -> Everything I need for a day by the pool or out at the beach.  It is also going to be a great packing tool. I can’t wait to see how this goes.

Darn Firewall!

I love a good sample sale/discount designer sale. In fact, they often leaving my closet happy and my wallet sad. With all of the new websites that have popped up over the past year or two you can find just about any designer on sale. Yes, I mean any designer even including Chanel (via Rue La La). Today was no different. Christian Louboutin shoes are on sale at Envite and I was so ready to just browse the sale this afternoon but for some reason Envite is blocked at work! So I didn’t get to check out the selection of womens sandals and womens pumps on sale until I got home tonight and of course everything in my size is sold out. It is probably a good thing that nothing is left in a size 6.5 as it keeps temptation away but at the same time it would be nice to at least have the option to buy a pair of shoes rather than to have that option taken away. I know I know crazy reasoning but what is a shopaholic to do?
