Toothpaste: It isn’t just for your teeth

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: General

Looking for a new use for toothpaste? How about as a natural acne medications? Toothpaste is a great alternative to harsh acne treatments that contain benzyol peroxide or salicylic acid which can be extremely drying. Toothpaste also works overnight. No longer do you have to fight a pimple for a week or longer. Instead dap a little toothpaste and go to bed. When you wake up your pimple will be much smaller and on the way to disappearing within a couple of days.

Skincare tidbit

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: Beauty

So while we are on the topic of the weather and how it can wreck havoc on you when you least expect it. Did you know that it isn’t just oily skin that causes breakouts? Nope dry air can do it too because it dries you out but sucks in the little bit of oil that your skin does produce. This oil mixes in with dirt and you are left with acne and blackheads. A lot of people shy away from moisturizer but it is really your friend. Moisturizer is a great aid for getting rid of blackheads because it keeps your skin soft and allows your skin to continue to produce healthy oils which cleans out your skin and pores. Sounds backwards but I promise that it is really helpful. Clean and Clear just came out with a moisturizer that has medication to help prevent breakouts. When in doubt look for the oil free and acne treating moisturizers.

Humidity: Please come back!

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: Beauty

I never ever thought I’d be begging for the humidity to come back. Houston tends to have an overabundance of humidity but not right now.  Instead we are having a dry spell and that is wrecking havoc on my skin and my scalp. It is truly miserable as I am flaking and itching all over. I am going to hit up Target tomorrow and check out humidifiers and pick up a couple of humidifier filters to go with it so that I am prepared and can use it nonstop until the humidity returns to Houston. I can’t take misery especially when it comes to my skin.

Can you use wrinkle cream without having a wrinkle?

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: Beauty

I’ve often wondered if there was any benefit to using wrinkle cream without having wrinkles. A few months ago, I remember watching a segment on Good Morning America on Botox and young girls in their 20s using it now to help prevent wrinkles. They were under the assumption it would be better to use it as preventative measure rather than after the aging process started to try and “fix” the problem. The doctor that was interviewed actually said it would make no difference – using it now or later.

So thus my wheels started turning regarding wrinkle creams. Wrinkle creams work differently though that something like Botox – they more or less keep you moisturized rather than injecting fillers and delaying the aging process. So after reading and thinking about it more, there really is no reason not to use a wrinkle cream now rather than waiting until the wrinkles start developing. Wrinkle creams tend to be pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things. I think I’m going to pick up some moisturizer and eye cream this weekend and see if I can notice a difference in my skin with daily use.

Teaser Tuesday – September 22, 2009

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: Books
This entry is part 21 of 28 in the series Teaser Tuesdays

So here is the premise behind Teaser Tuesday:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!
  • Happy Tuesday! I finished up Little Women about two weekends ago and need a short break from blogging and reading for some reason. I am feeling recharged and reenergized to start reading and blogging again. While I thought the book was good, it was not a favorite of mine and I probably will not reread it for a very long time. I’ve moved onto a different sort of book. I found this book while browsing Amazon at the beginning of the year and the title just caught my eye. It is a comical book that explores the blonde throughout human history and tries to explain the obsession with blonde hair. I told you it was quite comical and “out there”. I’m about halfway through with this book and I am really enjoying it if nothing else than because I have a slight obsession with finding the perfect blonde hair color myself.

“The Moon Blonde is a projection of our fantasy of the dark side of the female, and we see her more frequently in advertising and movies than we do on the subway. When you see a Moon Blonde on the street or at a gallery opening or taking your money at the bakery, it is time to look closely at her. She is screaming something to you.”
