Only 7 more months to go

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: General

And then my car will be paid off! A full 5 months early at that! I am super excited. I never thought I would see this day come even though I signed up for just 48 months of financing when I bought my car in December 2006. I also can’t believe that is when I bought my car because I am only at 24k miles. Can you tell that I hate to drive? I have Mike drive me whenever it is possible. I am just not very patient with traffic.

You know I have no real plans for the extra money I’ll be getting each month that was going towards my car payment. For now, I think I am going to just plan on putting it into savings for my future pomeranian puppies and then just for a rainy day or miscellaneous vacation plans.

Leisure Learning – Any experiences

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: General

I have been spending quite a bit of time lately day dreaming about my life after public accounting. I have been thinking about new hobbies and activities that I can enjoy in my spare time. One thing that I picked up the other day was the leisure learning catalog for the Houston area. I found a few interesting classes such as Intro to German, Intro to Tennis, and then various cooking classes and yoga classes. I know the basic concept of these leisure learning classes but I would love to learn more about what people who have taken some of these classes have thought. I mean most programs are only 4 to 6 weeks and cost between $50 and $100. So is it really worth it? Is it more of a social hour? I really want to expand my horizons and learn new things while meeting new people but I’m not sure if this is the best route. I am thinking that maybe I should just start off with one class over the summer to see what I think. Thoughts?

I need to pay more attention at Sephora

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: General

Sometimes I dread going to the mall. Other times I totally enjoy it. Sunday was a dreading day. I had gone the day before with a friend and then Mike wanted to go so I agreed to go on Sunday. It took 30 minutes to get my coffee at Starbucks and then it was just plain crowded at the mall. Yuck! It quickly got to the point where I wanted to run in and out of stores as fast as possible. In fact that is what I did at both places where I ended up buying things and in both cases I got the “almost” not the just right item.

For example, I wanted a new concealer since the last eye shadow primer I bought was just a primer not a concealer. I like concealer because it is a go-to method on how to get rid of blackheads or at least hide them during your most crucial times. I just received an email from Sephora with a new eye product that I thought was a primer + concealer. Nope! It is a primer for eye shadow and concealer. Definitely not what I was looking for. So I’ll be making another trip to the mall tomorrow night and stopping by Sephora on my way to get my eyebrows threaded and to return capris to Old Navy. Sigh. None of my shopping is working out too well right now.

The tree pollen is out in full force

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: General

Last week the tree pollen came out in full force and has yet to let up.  My nose goes from stuffed to even more stuffed as the day goes on.  I am taking about 3 24-hour Zyrtec pills per day and I am able to faintly smell scents.  This morning, the stomach ache started.  I’ve never really had stomach issues when my allergies have acted up so I’m nervous that I might be getting sick.  Fingers crossed that it is just a mix of phlem and dehydration from this past weekend’s festivities.  Either way, I’ve increased my fluid intake by making some sugar free Kool-Aid, ensuring that I’m taking the best prenatal vitamins on the market since prenatal is better than regular vitamins, and then eating my fruits and vegetables.

Tomorrow I am going to focus on continuing the clean out of the apartment by shredding more paper and then vacuuming and dusting as much as possible. Every little bit helps and I just don’t want this to turn into a full blown sinus infection. Talk about grossness right before I go on vacation.

And the saga continues

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: General

Why, why must it be so darn hard to find things? So I’ve talked before about how I still owe Mike a birthday present from last July (apparently getting married 2 days before and spending his birthday in Venice wasn’t enough). Well, I’m still looking for the darn thing. All he wants is this thing that is basically a shade that goes in the back of his SUV and you can pull it across and make a “trunk”. We have tried looking at the local truck accessories stores and we have even called the dealership. No one knows what we are talking about. It seems odd. We know they exist because we’ve seen them in other SUVs and we even see the grooves in his cargo area to fit this cover but we just can’t find it. Sigh.
