A very sad passing…

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Born and bread in Minnesota . Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half- baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

If this made you smile for even a brief second, please rise to the occasion and take time to pass it on and share that smile with someone else that may be having a crumby day and kneads a lift.

Tomorrow is going to be a rough day

Oh my! I went out tonight with a friend of mine and a couple of her good friends to have boiled crawfish. 3 hours later I was finally in my car headed home. Luckily I had not been towed for illegally parking in the parking lot of the restaurant across the street but I didn’t have anywhere else to go! The crawfish was to-die-for and the four of us finished off something insane like 16 pounds of crawfish in those 3 hours and at least four 6-packs of beer. So tasty! I have to say I am not thinking about the bags and dark circles I’ll be sporting to work tomorrow from my lack of sleep and drinking binge. The taste and company was totally worth it. I might need to look for some under eye cream for dark circles for the next time I go out with friends so that I can hide the late nights and drinking. ;) No need to bring it to work and be the office gossip fodder. Off to bed to try and prevent any tell-tell signs of tonight’s fun festivities.

Aloha Friday – June 26, 2009

This entry is part 11 of 18 in the series Aloha Fridays

Another Friday! Woohoo! I am so happy the weekend is here. It has heated up pretty quickly here in Houston (only the low 100s) and with that I am having the worst time sleeping. So all week I have been tired and cranky. I am hoping a little shopping this weekend will snap me out of my mood and help me lighten up a bit.

So let’s get started on Aloha Friday and kick this weekend off!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

What is the one thing you cannot live without at this moment?

Right now it is my green Kate Spade planner.  I know it sounds weird but there is a story to it.  Back in 2005 when I first moved to Houston, all I could think about was hitting the Galleria after my first real pay check as I was broke all summer with no job.  While I was at training, Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast and I had a friend who’s New Orleans office, where she was to work, was closed for over a month so that they could regroup.  So she was shipped off to Houston and lived on my couch for a month.  It was pretty fun times.  Anyways, one day I got off of work early so I hit up the Galleria and bought a new pair of designer jeans for jeans day Friday and this green planner.  I swore up and down that I would use this planner every day for the rest of my life (can you see me trying to justify this dumb purchase).  So I was good with it for about 6 months until it got tossed to the side and it was a running joke between us for the past 3 years – Her – How’s that Planner?   Me – “Yeah let’s not talk about it”.  Then I got engaged and found I needed something to keep myself organized.  So that planner goes everywhere with me and is used every day.  I make sure to show it to her everytime I see her now. LOL

Tigers Win! Tigers Win!

Posted by: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: fun

It has been 9 Very Long years since we have been able to yell that phrase out after the College World Series Championship game!  In fact, I was a freshman in college and my first year as an LSU Batgirl.  It was very exciting and I hoped to have that same chance in Omaha my senior year.  Well, I did make it to Omaha as a batgirl but it was the beginning of LSU’s 2 and done streak so my time was very short but boy was it a blast.  I hope to make it back one day again.

I had a friend send this photo to me yesterday after LSU’s Game 1 win over Texas but I was too afraid to post it today for my Wordless Wednesday post.  I thought I might jinx things.  I’m glad I waited and I’ll share it now. Bevo and the ‘horns just weren’t fast enough or tough enough this time around. They definitely were tasty Tiger Bait!
