I have yet to get ready for bed even though I will have an early start tomorrow and a long drive ahead of me.  I am taking the puppies to Baton Rouge to be spayed and micro chipped.  I need to get my bearings straight so I can quickly gather everything we need for the weekend and head out before noon. I do not want to have to deal with rush hour traffic of any kind since I’ll have 2 yappers in the back seat. Plus tomorrow is my brother’s birthday and he wants to go to dinner so I can’t be late for that!

I am on week 2 of my Pink Slip Party at my condo. I am finding that making jokes out of it all is what is keeping me from panic attacks and freaking out over it all. On a lovely Friday afternoon in March, after all of my monthly close work was completed I was given the ax at work and promptly packed up and thrown out of my office.

It was quite the experience since it was out of the blue and something I’ve never experienced in my life. I let my tears flow and decided to get over it and find something new since being idle isn’t really something I’m good at. Plus I have my eyes on those Miu Miu’s and need a job to buy them (they will be mine!) since I was fired the week before I was to receive my annual bonus. With an updated resume and a call into my recruiter and friends, I was ready to get moving and hopefully that will pay off by the end of next week.

So in the meantime I have been vegging out at the condo with the girls, unpacking, and ripping up weeds in the backyard. The weeding was pretty therapeutic but now I’m left with a mud hole until we buy sod. I’ve been filling up the DVR with old movies showing on TCM and Samantha Brown episodes on the Travel channel. About the only shopping I’ve done has been at HEB and Kroger but I have a new recipe to try out tomorrow night for human consumption so all is good. Last week I cooked up dog biscuits (which are quite tasty) but now I have a refrigerator full so no more dog baking for a while. lol

Valentine’s day is just over 2 weeks away. I can’t believe how fast it has come along. I know it will be even faster since I will have month end close the first 5 to 7 business days of the month. So I started thinking about my Valentine’s Day list and what I should look for. Normally, I don’t do anything big for Valentine’s Day but with a new home I was thinking about getting something special for Mike like engraved picture frames to put a photo of the girls in and then a photo of us in our new house to hang in the stairwell. Right now a bunch of different stores and websites are offering discounts on personalized items for the upcoming holiday. I think personalized frames that can be hung on a wall add something special and memorable over a plain frame from the local discount store.

I always knew that pets would be fun to have but I didn’t realize how much of a joy they would be. Thanksgiving weekend I picked up my two pomeranian puppies and life has not been the same since. Nor have I felt the same way. I went from going home to an empty, quite house at lunch and after work to coming home to a house full of noise and cheering from the little ones happy to see that “mommy” is home. The same thing happens when “dad” comes home. Each night we have to tuck them in for bed with blankets and snuggies. And if that isn’t enough we have to be obstacles for them to run around each night to get in their exercise.

Life hasn’t always been rosy with the girls. We’ve had to repair their bed, put up boxes to block the baseboards from chewing, and I’ve picked up more poop than I ever thought I would. But having them around is something I’d never trade or even have a hint of regret about. If you’ve ever thought about getting a pet I highly recommend it. In fact I recommend 2 at once.

Mike’s new favorite game with the girls is Oven Mitt Monster. I was lucky enough to catch it on video earlier this week and want to share it. Abby and Maggie are 3.5 months old in this video.
