I forgot to give an exercise update. I mentioned earlier in the week how I was setting a goal for August to run 4 times a week at least 4 miles in total in those 4 times. Well this week I made my goal! I was super excited when I realized that I made my goal while running on the treadmill. I hope to meet this goal next week as well and add in some weight training as I didn’t do a lick of that this week. I only did so so with the diet so that will be an added goal for the rest of the month as well. Ok off to enjoy watching Georges St. Pierre kick butt!

Mike and I were on the internet this morning looking at pictures from the opening ceremony at the Olympics yesterday. Since I only have rabbit ears on my television we aren’t able to get all of the channels available through cable or satellite. In fact, we can’t even get NBC because it is too low in the spectrum of network tv! So we accepted that the only way we were going to get our fill of the Olympics was through news articles on Yahoo.
That is until we started channel flipping this afternoon and found the Spanish channels. We might not be able to understand a word that they are saying but since these channels are in the 40s and 50s they are coming in crystal clear and we are watching Cuba vs. Poland in Volleyball. I need to check the schedule and see when gymnastics and swimming will be on so I can tune in. If you are in our situation with rabbit ears and poor NBC reception give the Spanish channels a shot. They could work for you too!

I have never been one for playing lots of video games. The controllers have just become too sophisticated and have too many buttons, joysticks, etc on them that I have given up. But then came along Guitar Hero (It is my duck hunt from back in the day) and now the Wii. I never knew too much about the Wii until my family spent some time in Circuit City and Best Buy last Saturday night while my dad shopped for a new tv. I just love that game console. I like how you can interact with the game and you don’t have to worry about too many buttons and such on the controller. So now I want a Wii!
So I am now signed up for WiiAlerts so I can hopefully find one before Christmas and I am looking for games to buy. I found the Order Up! Trailer on YouTube. Order Up! is a new game coming out where you will start off as a lowly fast food chef and work in the kitchen making your food and recipes and hopefully move up to become a world-class chef! I absolutely love the idea of this game as I love all things cooking and it seems so easy to play and I think you will get to interact with the game a lot and go through the motions of cooking - mixing, beating, combining ingredients - which will be fun.
Check out the trailer and if you have a Wii drop a comment to let me know what you think about the game and the Wii in general. i can’t wait to get mine!

Mike and I have small habits that we have developed over the years. One of our habits is the nightly watching of Cheaters and Blind Date. I don’t know which one we started watching first but it extended to the other show and we now watch both. I tend to prefer Cheaters but lately there are so many reruns that I’m preferring Blind Date. But I am digressing (no surprise). The point of this post is to talk about commercials. These shows run on a pretty low budget local channel here in Houston. Because it is a low budget station, we see the same slimy commercials each night throughout the shows. It seems that party lines and male enhancers are the commercial of choice but every now and then you’ll get an education commercial thrown in there. The past week I have noticed that our favorite commercial is no longer running. I don’t know if their advertising budget ran out or if they are out of business. The commercial was for a party line/dating service and had the a catchy jingle. I guess even in these hard times people can’t pick up the phone as often as they use to in order to call these “hot” girls. Well a new month is about to start. We’ll see if they are just another victim of the economy or just have a small advertising budget.
I find no matter how old I get I always revert back to watching kiddie movies and tv shows. I always thought I was an odd one in doing this until I saw on a few of my favorite message boards that there are a lot of people my age that still watch ABC Family and Disney Channel and they do not have kids either. I actually breathed a sigh of relief after reading the responses in the threads. So with that said I finally dusted off High School Musical 2 which I have had from Netflix for almost a month now and sat down this morning to watch it. I really really really enjoyed this movie. It combined Disney teen/tween cheesiness and song & dancing throughout the movie. Totally worth the Netflix rental and I think I will be adding this and the first High School Musical to my Amazon wishlist in hopes that either my friends or family picks it up for my birthday.
If you haven’t seen either High School Musical movie and are curious to see what all the hype is about especially before the 3rd movie comes out this October here is a clip from High School Musical 2 with the cast singing Everyday. Enjoy!
