It has been a few weeks since I have done a Disney Ride Video. I was working on editing my PhotoPass pictures and got into a rather big Disney mood. So off I went to find a video to match my mood. The video I found is for the Enchanted Tiki Room which can be found in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom. This is more of an attraction than a ride as you watch a show full of parrots singing and talking. Mike and I never made it to the show this time around but I had it on my try to do list and will put it on the must do list when we return in a few years. It is a great place to relax and cool down in the heat of summer so definitely give it a try on your next trip. It is great for all ages so why not?!

Mike and I like to make lists of things. Recently on our Disney trip we had a few mental lists going - characters we wanted to see from previous trips, characters that we missed last trip and were bound and determined to find, and characters that are “rare” but we would still look for just in case they made an appearance. Oh! We also had a list going for Mickey in his different outfits. Apparently there are over 80 different costumes Mickey can appear in!
I thought it would be fun to share with all of you my top 15 favorite Disney Characters and see who was on your top 5 list to see how many we had alike! Here is my Top 15:
Minnie
Mickey (of course)
Tinkerbell
Marie from The Aristocats
Princess Aurora aka Sleeping Beauty
Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Oliver from Oliver and Company
Daisy Duck
Cinderella
Buzz Lightyear
Dopey
Snow White
Genie from Aladdin
Fairy Godmother
Alice from Alice in Wonderland
Looking at that list there are only two of those characters Mike and I didn’t see in the Disney Parks last week - the two cats! How awesome is that!
You actually don’t have to go to the Disney Parks to see your favorite characters. In fact, you can see them every day through the Disney Bingo game brought to you by Screen Life Games who also bring you Disney Scene It! Disney Bingo is a fun interactive game where everyone can play because the numbers are called from a DVD you insert into your DVD player. Each number includes a Disney character, many of which are on my Top 15 list and probably yours as well! The game is on sale at Amazon.com and Drugstore.com so if you want to get a head start on your holiday shopping this would be a great item to pick up. Check out the video below which describes the game and how to play it.
No matter how hard you try and plan the perfect Disney vacation there are always things you will find out during and after your trip that you just didn’t know about before. So I have started making a list of items to make sure I either bring or don’t bring for when we are packing and planning for our September 2010 trip to Walt Disney World. I hope some of these items help you in your packing and planning!
Band aids - you think 1 box of 60 is enough for a week but it is not! Our feet were torn up from all of the walking we did and 2 boxes of 60 barely did the job. Make sure to pack extras because a box of band aids at WDW is $5.
Water - bottles of water run about $2 each. We pack water in our suitcases (3 per gallon sized zip lock) to bring with us. We drink about 3 bottles a piece per day. One thing though is you can quickly get water logged by drinking this much water so to help out grab the powerade drink mixes (single servings) which will also help keep your energy up in the heat
Thick socks help pad your feet better than thin socks. No matter how broken in your shoes are I found I still had my shoes rubbing on my heels and also causing blisters near my toes. The thicker socks and ankle high socks really helped protect my feet.
Take afternoon breaks! No matter when you go or where you go, it is hot and tiring. Afternoon breaks even for just an hour in the hotel room will do wonders. I also can’t tell you how many people didn’t bring their kiddos back for a break and by 8pm they were so miserable and unhappy and parents were having meltdowns trying to deal with a child having a meltdown. It just doesn’t create a happy family vacation.
Pop tarts are a fabulous breakfast food and easy to pack. Ok maybe they are not nutritious but they are easy to eat on the go and you really don’t need a toaster or anything special to eat them. We were able to eat 1 (1 tart not one pack) each morning at 7 and it would hold us till lunch time around noon.
You are on vacation and do not need to eat healthily all the time. Enjoy those Mickey bars, Dole Whips, and frozen bananas because they can’t always be found at home lol.
As I think of other things that we learned I will post them for all of you. We had a fabulous time and can’t wait to go back. If you have any specific questions about going, what to expect, where to eat, or about going in September please drop a comment. I love to talk about vacations!

One of the hidden treasures in the World Showcase section of Epcot can be found in Norway. Norway is one of two countries that features a “ride” to showcase the history of their country. In the Norway ride, Malestorm, you experience a storm as you go through the countryside of Norway and see everything that Norway has to offer such as polar bears and their famous “trolls”. The beginning of the ride is very dark and can be fairly spooky for young ones but it does light up fairly quickly in the ride and is not as scary. There is one little part where you go backwards for just a short period of time before going down a very small slope in your boat. This video is not the best of quality but it will give you a good idea on the darkness and lighting of the ride and help you to decide whether or not to bring your small ones on with you. The first 45 seconds are fairly dark but then you can see the ride much better. I hope you find this useful.

I have been posting quite a few Disney Ride videos highlighting some of the larger, more popular attractions. But there are many other rides/attractions out there that are lesser known and everyone in your family can enjoy them. Today, I want to share with you a ride that is not widely talked about other than it needs to be refurbished and/or replaced entirely. It remains at Walt Disney World because it is one of the original rides that originated at a state fair and then was placed into the park because it was Walt Disney’s favorite ride. It has remained fairly untouched since it was put into service in the parks and will most likely remain this way.
Which ride is it? The Carousel of Progress which can be found in the Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. The ride follows a family through the decades and shows how technology is entering our lives in multiple ways and how it is helping us. It ends with wondering what will be next. Enjoy the video below and definitely make sure you ride it once. It is worth it and it is air conditioned!
