I hope everyone had a great holiday last week no matter what you celebrate. I know I had a great Christmas filled with lots of reading and some new books for this week! I am super excited and am planning to hit a local Starbucks right after lunch today and reading for about an hour. I haven’t participated in a couple of weeks and I can’t remember everything that I have finished since the last time I checked in but I remember a couple of books so I’ll list them here this week.
Books completed last week:
- That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels, and Everything in Between ~by Victoria Beckham I was expecting more of an autobiography with this book but instead I got a book about fashion, beauty, and everything in between. I really liked the writing in this book – Victoria has the Brit humor that makes things fun. I loved her since of style as well and found her tips useful. Definitely would pick this book up later to keep around the house. It is pretty classic so it shouldn’t get dated any time soon.
- Love Walked in ~ by Marisa de los Santos This was an okay book. I was hoping it would be better than it was but overall it was okay. I’m glad I powered through and finished it but I don’t think I would reread it.
- Hope in a Jar by Beth Harbison I’ve read a couple of her other books (Shoe Addicts Anonymous and Secrets of a Shoe Addict) and came across this book on the shelves of Borders 2 weeks ago. My library had a copy so I went ahead and checked it out. It was a really light book. A little risque at parts but it was fun. I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars. Not a favorite but a good “light” book to read.
- The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot I decided last week at the library to get a head start on the 2010 Young Adult book Challenge and the Support Your Local Library Book Challenge. I know it isn’t technically 2010 but we’re close enough. I LOVE THIS SERIES. It is really cute and just adds so much to the Disney movie. I ended up using my $40 Amazon gift card (Thanks Tricia @Sunshine Rewards) on buying books 4 1/2 – 9!
- The Princess Diaries Volume II: Princess in the Spotlight by Meg Cabot See commentary above. Very cute book
- The Princess Diaries, Volume III: Princess in Love by Meg Cabot
Books I am currently reading:
- The Princess Diaries Volume IV: Princess in Waiting by Meg Cabot
Up Next:
- One for the Money by Janet Evanovich
- Two for the Dough by Janet Evanovich
- The Debutante Divorcee by Plum Sykes ~ found it for $3 at Books a Million Saturday. Could be fun
I’m looking forward to continuing the Princess Diaries series but I have to wait for my Amazon order to come in since my Local Library doesn’t have all of the books in the series – What the Heck?!?! So I’m going to start on the Stephanie Plum Reading Challenge since I have books 1 and 2 from the library and they are due back soon. So that is it for now. Have a great reading week and have a Happy New Years!

@J-Kaye – I totally wasn’t even looking for anything in the super sale section – just trying to find my parents and I found that book. I enjoyed Bergdorf Blondes so hopefully this one will be just as funny.
@Nise – glad to hear you like the series. I just started reading Janet Evanovich books and I love book series so I hope this will be a winner for me.
@Kristin – I’m super excited to hear that someone is enjoying and benefiting from my random book reviews and recommendations. I realize they aren’t as in depth as other blogs but I try to post things as I think of them – thus being totally random. I have a list going of things to read but I have a feeling I’m going to run out soon. I am going to come over and see what you have been reading lately to get some ideas.
