The holiday season is full of fun and cheer but in the background some doom and gloom often hangs around. There are ways to keep your holiday season fun and cheery though by taking just a few little precautions.
1. Keep your car clean and clear, do not put packages inside your car. Rather, put packages in your trunk and empty your car each day when you return home. If you get loaded down with packages, return to your car but plan to move to another parking lot or area before returning to shop.
2. If you plan to put up a real tree this year, make sure to keep the tree watered and only plug it in while you are in the room. Fires start when the trees dry out and the lights overheat on the wood.
3. Properly insure your home. I know that it isn’t nice to think about your house being broken into but let’s face it, you are out and about more often and sometimes you have people over that you don’t know too well. Things happen so make sure you are carrying adequate home insurance so that your valuables and presents are covered.
4. In addition to #3 above, try and hold off on putting any presents under the tree until Christmas Eve. With no presents in sight you are cutting out the temptation others might feel with a tree full of gifts.
5. Watch out for pets. Often holiday plants and flowers are poisonous so make sure to keep them in high areas where your furry friends can’t reach them. Same goes with glass ornaments and nativity scenes.
Hope these tips come in handy and you have a safe, fun, and cheery holiday season!
