The Blonde Diaries

So like most females in the US, I went to see New Moon this weekend.  I decided to hold off until Sunday to hit the movie theater hoping for a smaller crowd and maybe a quieter crowd.  Luckily, Mike enjoyed watching Twilight so I had someone to go with as none of my friends had any interest in seeing the movie (crazy I know!). So after watching trailer after trailer, talking up the movie with my coworkers, and prebuying my tickets 2 weeks in advance, it was finally time to see this movie.

Overall, I thought it was a good movie.  I will say though that I didn’t think Twilight was all that terrible.  I think the reason I enjoyed Twilight was because I hadn’t read the book before seeing the movie so the movie guided my views on the book.  This time, I had read New Moon but it has been almost a year so it isn’t fresh in my head. I thought the movie did a good job with the high points of the book.  I felt it was a very quick 2 hours and 2 hours in which I kept waiting for something, anything, to happen and nothing really happened until the end of the movie and that was even exaggerated from the book.  After seeing the movie, I remembered how much I hated this book in the series.  It was just very slow and dull. I understand the pain and anguish Bella was feeling when Edward went away and it is important but it makes for a long book and movie.

Eclipse was my next favorite book in the series after Twilight and I am anxiously awaiting that movie.  I think it will be fantastic and much more action packed.  I hope they are able to do the plot justice as alot happened in that book and it seems that they are keeping things to 2 hours.  New Moon definitely leaves you aching to see Eclipse now rather than waiting until next year.  I think I’ll be digging out the books over Christmas and reading them all again to help hold me over until I can continue the movie saga.
I found this ticker/countdown while searching for a movie poster of New Moon to put with this post but this seems more fitting with the way New Moon ends.   Seems like Edward has a question Bella needs to answer.  Only 7 months until we get that answer.
