We tapped our first keg last weekend

For our wedding, Mike and I registered at Bed Bath and Beyond. We registered for the usual: towels, plates, pans, kitchen utensils, and then a few not so usual items like the Krups BeerTender and the Magic Bullet (the blender people not that other thing!). We weren’t really expecting anyone to give us either of these things but decided if we got them great if not oh well. Much to our surprise, the Magic Bullet came from one of Mike’s good buddies and it has proved to be quite the little margarita maker. I intend to try and make salsa and hummus at some point but the ritas are just so much fun!

The BeerTender though was not purchased by anyone. It was ok as we quickly ran out of counter space at home with a crockpot, toaster oven, george foreman grill, and a 4 slice toaster! So dreams of having a BeerTender went away until we went over to one of Mike’s coworker’s apartments to watch a UFC fight and they had the BeerTender. Boy was it fun to use. Draught beer all the time with just the pull of a tap in your kitchen. After we left, Mike and I vowed that we would find a way to fit this into our lives and off we went to the Bed Bath and Beyond registry completion event to purchase ours at 20% off.

The only bad thing was once we were at BB&B the only one they had in the store was the model. I hate buying store models and displays because everyone has to touch them. So Mike and I went away very sadly to the fine tableware section to purchase our plates and bowls. It must have been fate because some of our bowls were out of stock and had to be special ordered but we’d still get the 20% off and free shipping. Are you following where this one is going…

So we asked if that would work with the BeerTender as well and lo and behold it would! Yes! The BeerTender was going to be ours with a discount and free shipping. It was a small consolation to not having it that night. So this was back in September, I totally forgot to change the shipping address on the registry so everything was sent to Baton Rouge not Houston! So after a long 6 week wait, Mike and I finally were able to bring our BeerTender home 2 weeks ago. Mike couldn’t wait to get everything set up so Friday after work last week he hit the local Kroger and bought our first Heineken Light keg and we hooked it all up and tapped into the keg on Sunday when his buddy came over to watch a UFC fight of course. LOL. It was a good thing he came because if it had been left up to Mike and I to figure out how to use the BeerTender we would have drank an entire keg of foam and no liquid. It was nice to have a tutor to show us the way.

So here are a few photos from Mike and I tapping our first keg on Sunday. We had a good time with it and between the three of us we almost floated the baby keg. Oops!

Atta girl! If I had been a wedding guest I would have been all over that Beer Tender for a gift. Unless it was wicked expensive – then I would have found some other guests to pool resources as a group gift. So much more memorable than china.

@Bumbles originally it retailed for $179 which I think is why it wasn’t touched but then right before the wedding it dropped to $99 since a newer model came out and then with a 20% off coupon it was just $80. Not too shabby. BB&B still has the older model for $99 if Andy needs this for Christmas.

I like it and think it’s very cool.
This will come in handy once people start coming over, after tou’re married. At least until they start having kids. Then the parties get few and far between. Although that depends on who you hang out with :)

My hubby and his friends would love this. I’m not a beer drinker myself. By the way, we have a kid whose 9 and we still have people over and drinking every weekend, just after she goes to bed.

Super cool! I love beer and just about any type of alcohol. I’m not an addict, though…
