I have a three day weekend coming up this week. I am so looking forward to it. I was hit with bad news at work last week and have just been trying to hold it together long enough to make it to this weekend so I can try to relax. The bad news wasn’t anything related to pay cuts or layoffs so that was good. The bad news was that there are not enough staff to go around after people quit this year so we are all just going to have to suck it up and put in the extra hours ourselves and not expect to have extra people come to help us out. So my team is looking at 50-55 hour weeks until Christmas and then 60+ hour weeks in January and February. Super exciting… Not!!
On another front, Mike is working on interviewing right now. It seems like the oil & gas industry is going again and that means more jobs in Houston! Yay! Right now the opportunities out there are for the type of positions he wants and the salary range he wants so that is awesome. We are just waiting on interviews to be set up through the recruiter.
Hopefully it will all work out and he can quit the Beaumont nonsense before busy season kicks off.
So with everything going on, you can see why I’m looking forward to this weekend. We are heading home to visit my family and to go to the LSU v. Auburn game. I’m thoroughly looking forward to the tailgate and then going to the game. I haven’t had really good tailgate food in ages and hope to find a few favorites while walking around campus. I’ll have to be careful though that I don’t overeat. I don’t want to be stressing next week about finding the best diet pills because I ate too much and the scale is yelling back at me. I had that happen this morning after going out to lunch at a new Mexican restaurant yesterday and then dinner at our favorite sushi restaurant. I had to run to the gym tonight to continue my couch to 5k program to try and combat the salt/water weight. Not a fun thing!

Three day weekends are always a good thing
Overtime is a bummer….unless of course you are hourly and need the extra cash! Yet, it seems the overtime usually falls to the salaried people…go figure! Hope you enjoy a few days off while you can.
I hear you on trying to combat extra pounds due to eating out…it’s a never ending battle isn’t it? Good luck to you!
