One thing I dislike about living in an apartment is that I was not able to pick the color of my carpet nor can I replace it myself. My apartment is covered with cream carpet and while it goes with everything in my apartment, it does not go with the dirt that gets tracked in on a daily basis. What is even worse is when the family dog comes on “vacation” to stay with Mike and I. Walking the dog in the grassy areas all around the complex just increases the dirt and mud that I track into the apartment.
I have been looking for a solution to this nightmare but haven’t really found the right answer. I started taking my shoes off as soon as I stepped in the door and that helps some but I often forget when I am running around trying to get ready and pop those shoes on and walk all over the carpet. It kind of defeated the purpose of leaving at the door. I’ve also tried keeping it at 2 pairs of flip flops when I do go out and walk the dog but those aren’t always the best choice when it is raining or cold outside. I have been thinking about picking up a pair of disposable shoe covers but I am wondering if I will just slip and slide all over outside. They seem like a good option for when it is really muddy outside as I can slip them on before going out and slip them off outside after I am done. Then the dirt stays outside and the shoes stay clean. Anyone try these for this purpose before?
