So here is the premise behind Teaser Tuesday:
Happy Tuesday! I finished up Little Women about two weekends ago and need a short break from blogging and reading for some reason. I am feeling recharged and reenergized to start reading and blogging again. While I thought the book was good, it was not a favorite of mine and I probably will not reread it for a very long time. I’ve moved onto a different sort of book. I found this book while browsing Amazon at the beginning of the year and the title just caught my eye. It is a comical book that explores the blonde throughout human history and tries to explain the obsession with blonde hair. I told you it was quite comical and “out there”. I’m about halfway through with this book and I am really enjoying it if nothing else than because I have a slight obsession with finding the perfect blonde hair color myself.
“The Moon Blonde is a projection of our fantasy of the dark side of the female, and we see her more frequently in advertising and movies than we do on the subway. When you see a Moon Blonde on the street or at a gallery opening or taking your money at the bakery, it is time to look closely at her. She is screaming something to you.”

A question — did you like “Little Women?” I pick that up every once in a while and like certain parts of it, but then others leave me cold. (that book, by the way, is where I learned the word “fortnight.” Good grief, why can I remember that all these decades later?!) I still love the poem Jo writes to Beth, about the trunks in the attic. Your current read sounds like fun. I’ll have to look for it.
My teaser is from a memoir written by a woman who is, literally, a replacement child for the sister who dies when a plane crashes into their house. Talk about ripped from the headlines! It follows that headline and follows it through 2 generations. And it’s called, appropriately, “Replacement Child.” You can read an excerpt here.
My teaser is from a chapter set in 1968, on page 134:
“Music had also become a way for me to infiltrate the male dominated garage band scene. There was only room for one girl singer in a band, even if I was grudgingly included to sing the Jefferson Airplane or Janis Joplin tunes they wanted to play. I liked being the only girl in the room at rehearsals. I could imitate Grace Slick pretty well, but the growl of Janis was something that eluded me—and got me kicked out of a few groups.”
Happy tuesday everyone.

Sounds interesting. I’m not blonde, but some of my other brunette friends have gone blonde (and some of my blonde friends have gone blonder). Hope you’re enjoying the book
