Teaser Tuesday – September 1, 2009

Author: The Blonde Diaries  /  Category: Books
This entry is part 20 of 29 in the series Teaser Tuesdays

So here is the premise behind Teaser Tuesday:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!
  • Happy Tuesday everyone. I haven’t been able to get things going on track today. Been late on everything I’ve touched/done. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I’m on Part 2 of Little Women and still feel the same way I did last week. Mad about the ending but it is a good book. My teaser this week comes from the book again but it is from Part 1. Enjoy!

Money is a needful and precious thing, – and, when well used, a noble thing, – but I never want you to think it is the first or only prize to strive for.  I’d rather see you poor men’s wives, if you were happy, beloved, contented, than queens on thrones, without self-respect and peace.

I remember adoring all of Alcott’s books. But this just makes me think, ahh…ideals and pride. They were definitely more appealing when I was younger, though I appreciate these books even now… :-)

I loved all Louisa May Alcott’s books–well, except the ones they’ve ‘discovered’ and published in the last few years. She’d probably have preferred those remained in obscurity! Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Looks like this book has contributed to some of my life choices; I must have taken that advice to heart when I read this years ago. :)
