So yesterday I posted this photo for my weekly Wordless Wednesday meme. So now I’m going to tell you about it since it is…
So this is a photo of me while visiting the Open Air Museum in Ephesus, Turkey. When I read the cruise excursion description, this isn’t what I was picturing the Open Air Museum to be like. For some reason I was thinking it would be like other museums – a building but with open parts of the roof or something similar. Behind me is the reconstructed ruins of the Library of Celsius. All that was left or that has been uncovered in the excavation work is the front of the building but that was pretty amazing right there. Ephesus is about 25% excavated and they are still excavating more of the area. I can’t imagine what is waiting to be uncovered.
As you can tell, it was very hot. That day, we made sure I stayed lathered up in sunscreen, wore my hat, and drank plenty of water (well Mike too). Luckily, we are use to heat and humidity thanks to living in Houston, Texas but I really wasn’t expecting to run into “Texas heat” over there in Europe. We swore it was over 100 degrees that day but a quick visit to weather.com tells us that it was only 90 degrees. I’m not sure I agree with that.

I didn’t realize you were a Texan, too! =) Isn’t funny how our mind sees things in advance and it’s nowhere near the real thing when you get there? LOL

Never been to Turkey, but Houston, once… in July. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I would also stitch too tight, so tight I couldn’t get them off the needle. It was frustrating, but it’s coming a long and been a great learning experience.
Have a great day! ~Shanna

How exciting! I bet it was so interesting to see the museum! About the weather we lived in Ohio for several years and when the humidity is so high it feels so much hotter than it really is. So it probably was 90 degrees!

I didn’t know it gets that hot out in Turkey. I’m used to 100 degree weather.

Turkey! Wow, that must have been interesting! Great story, and I bet it must have been a great day, in spite of the hot weather…
