The Blonde Diaries

Mike and I are making a trip to my parents’ house this weekend.  Main reason is to pick up the load of wedding presents I had sent there during this whole wedding process because I can’t trust my apartment complex or UPS to deliver my package to me.  As much as I like my apartment, the complex workers leave much to be desired.

So I received yet another email tonight from my mother with a warning of how much stuff there actually is at her house.  I’m not quite sure what to do.  Other than planning to live in the same pair of shorts, shoes, and then packing 2 different tshirts I can only keep my packing and Mike’s packing to a minimum.  I’m hoping that everything just looks huge due to packaging but I just don’t know unitl I see it all.

We are very grateful for everything we have received so far.  It has all been lovely (even the ant present) and is really adding a sense of decor to our home.  We now have photos and clocks hanging on our walls, lighting fixtures on our nightstands, and even a coffee table/storage ottoman. I’m starting to feel as if I’m living in a grown up apartment rather than a poor college student’s apartment. I have to admit that when I first moved into my own place I didn’t take decorating seriously. It was just something that was boring to me and cost quite a bit of money.

Over the years, I have learned how to accessorize through small items like pillow covers from Crate and Barrel outlet on the couch to a few strategically placed photo frames on the wall. Mike and I even bought a Turkish rug on the honeymoon to place in front of the entertainment center in the living room. That might end up being next week’s Wordless Wednesday because everyone has to hear the story of that darn rug after everything we went through. LOL

So I’m looking forward to seeing what awaits us and building upon these beautiful wedding gifts as we settle into our home together and continue to travel and enjoy life.
