The day after we filed the 10-K for my client, I was given the day off. I used that day to run errands, go shopping, and to see a movie. I was looking for ways to relax and that day really did the trick. I was up in the air about seeing Confessions of a Shopaholic because I absolutely love the book series and the movie trailers I saw via survey companies did not really interest me. From those trailers, I saw that the movie was not going to follow the book and I wasn’t quite sure if I could handle that or not.
I told myself that if I was in a position to catch one of the daytime showings I would see the movie but I wasn’t going to try and work my schedule around it. Things worked out and I was able to make the movie. It was odd watching it by myself but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I will say that the movie didn’t follow the book. There were scenes in the movie that were trying to mimic the book’s storyline but if you’ve never read the book you wouldn’t know that. It was subtle but there. Overall it was a cute movie but not sure if it is one I’m actually going to buy to own. Isla Fischer did a really good job playing Becky and I could totally see Becky shine through. I found this clip on YouTube from the Early Show with an interview of Isla. I am so glad she was a fan of the books before the movie because I think it totally helped her become Becky. I enjoyed the interview and I hope you all do too.

I thought it was a good movie, really underlined some of the more serious issues we face as a society today regarding greed and spending. I hadn’t read the book before hand but I enjoyed the movie nonetheless. I’d give it 3 stars.
