Book Review: Sundays at Tiffany’s

This entry is part 5 of 10 in the series Book Challenges 2009

I was able to mark another book off from my TBR 2009 list last weekend on my flight from Charlotte to Houston.  I was fairly tired when I set off to come home last weekend in Pittsburgh so I didn’t mind not having a book for the first leg of the flight.  I took a nice one hour nap until we landed in Charlotte.  By the time we had landed I was wide awake and knew I wouldn’t be able to take a nap on the way home.  Even if I had taken another nap I wouldn’t have been able to fall asleep that night and would be wrecked for work the next day.  So I decided to find the airport bookstore and find a book.  The selection was pretty slim pickings but I happened across this book and decided I would start reading it.  My friend Janet at Janet’s Book Nook recommended this book a few months ago when I was reading Cecelia Ahern’s If You Could See Me Now and I had been meaning to read it for a while.

So I started reading Sundays at Tiffany’s, by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet, right before takeoff and finished right as we landed.  I have to say I really enjoyed this book.  It is a book about a girl named Jane who spent every Sunday in her childhood going with her mother to lunch and then shopping at Tiffany’s.  Most of those Sundays, Jane spent with her childhood best friend Michael while her mother was conducting business at a nearby table.  Jane soon learns that Michael cannot be her best friend forever and soon leaves her on one of the most important days in her young life.  As we continue reading, we learn that this is not the last we nor Jane will see of Michael.  Michael returns and a strange and amazing thing happens that brings a happy ending to a book that could very well have had a sad ending.  It is a heartwarming love story and one that shows how far someone will go to be with the one they love.  This book keeps you on your toes until the end thanks to the very first chapter and will surprise you when it is finally revealed who is being talked about at the very beginning.

I give this book a B+ only because it only took me 3 hours to read the book.  I love books that are a little longer and this one just felt too short.
