While looking for my book challenges, I came across a weekly meme at the Should Be Reading Blog titled Teaser Tuesday. I really liked the idea behind the meme so I have decided to incorporate it into my blog each week. I hope it keeps me reading and keeps me blogging on a regular basis.
So here is the premise behind Teaser Tuesday:
I just started The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy for my Casual Classics Challenge to change things up from my contemporary fiction challenges last night so I will use this book for my Tuesday Teaser this week. This book is about the French Revolution and the man who helped aristocrats escape the guillotine in France which maddened the French and created quite a bit of speculation as to who was the Scarlet Pimpernel and why was he helping the aristocrats escape.
Chauvelin had sworn to his colleagues in Paris that he would discover the identity of that meddlesome Englishman, entice him over to France, and then… Chauvelin drew a deep breath of satisfaction at the very thought of seeing that enigmatic head falling under the knife of the guillotine, as easily as that of any other man.

Welcome to Teaser Tuesdays! “The Scarlet Pimpernel” is one of those books I keep thinking I must read one day and the prose style looks good so I’ll be interested to know what you make of it. I’m doing Casual Classics too but my books are all Virago Modern Classics.

And people think we live in an overly violent society! Gruesome teaser – I can just hear him doing a wicked cackle while rubbing his hands together!

I know Kim. I couldn’t have asked for a better page to fall on. I am interested in seeing how the book turns out. I’m only on chapter 3 and it is a bit difficult to get into right now.

The book (“Doomed Queens: Royal Women who Met Band Ends, From Cleopatra to Princess Di”) from my Teaser Tuesdays this week not surprisingly includes Marie Antoinette…I wonder if the Scarlet Pimpernel had anything to do with her. Interesting teaser.
