OMG where did 2008 go already? Every time I looked at the calendar this year, I noticed another month was passing me by and I couldn’t quite understand why time was moving so quickly. It happened again this morning when I received a call from my new associate who is in Midland performing a year end inventory observation (ie climbing/gauging oil tanks). I swore up and down that today was the 29th not the 30th until I received her phone call. Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve and then it will be 2009. In 7.5 months I will be married. I am starting to freak out just a little bit can you tell?
On the note of 2009 quickly approaching, I wanted to remind my readers of a few end of the year items. Don’t forget to make contributions to your 401(k) and IRAs. While you do technically have until April 15, 2009 to make contributions for 2008, why drag it out. Do it now while the market has dipped again and while you are thinking about 2008. Also, charity contributions need to be made by 11:59pm on December 31st to count for 2008. Many worthy causes like cerebral palsy research, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, and the American Cancer Society are all set up to accept online donations and will give you a receipt upon completion for tax purposes. So don’t delay if you want it to count for 2008!
