I have been waiting to join this group for a few weeks now. I came across 5 minutes for books one day when I was searching for books to add to my reading list. I am running short on books to read and need some recommendations so that I don’t spend a fortune on books I do not know much about and find out later that they suck. So 5 minutes for books seems to be a great place to start. On the fourth Tuesday of every month, participants are asked to tell everyone in a blog post about the books on their nightstand that they are wanting to read that month. Basically what are you reading, what do you want to read, and how did you pick these books. Sounds right up my alley.
Of course this month I am short on books and am in process of finding some cheaply on amazon or half.com to purchase. I have these two books on my nightstand and I hope to finish them in the upcoming weeks:
1. The Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot – Cabot is the author of the Princess Diaries series and I just discovered that she wrote chick lit as well. I picked this book because the title jumped out at me from the shelf at Barnes and Noble. The book is about a recent graduate who is going to England for a month to visit her boyfriend but unfortunately she does not know how to keep her mouth shut and gets a few people in hot water instead of helping them. So her summer plans change just a little and she also finds out she still has a 50 page thesis to write to graduate. Can you say surprise?! It sounded fun and light and it hasn’t disappointed so far.
2. Twilight by Stephenie Myers – After hearing about the rave reviews on the book and the chatter around the movie adaption, I started to have my interest peaked by this series. I am not sure how much I will like Vampire love stories but I want to give it a try. I like the idea that this is a series as I love finding series or authors that I enjoy reading as it leads me to other books and takes up some of my reading time with good books.
