I just finished reading Sophie Kinsella’s latest book Remember Me? last week. Like all of Ms. Kinsella’s books, I found myself not wanting to put the book down until it was over. This was also the first book in a long while that I did not want the ending to be spoiled so I didn’t flip to the last few pages to see how the book ended.
Remember Me? is a book that follows Lexi Smart, a hard working Director at a Carpet Manufacturer, who happens to have an accident. As a result of the accident, Lexi spent five days in a coma and woke up with selective amnesia. Lexi could not remember the last three years of her life! She couldn’t remember anything about her husband or her drive to the top of her department. Lexi also couldn’t remember anything about her personality change and quite frankly, once she began piecing the puzzle together, didn’t like the person she had become in those three years.
Had Lexi been the person she had become in the missing three years of her life, I don’t think I would have enjoyed this book at all. Seeing the old Lexi learning about her new self through the eyes of others allowed you to root for Lexi to figure out the missing pieces and return to who she was deep down inside. I don’t want to spoil the book so I will not tell you what happened but I will say that you must read this book if you love chick lit. It isn’t as light and fluffy as other books but at the same time, the book does not trivialize the situation and still has you wanting to find out what happens.
Does Lexi ever remember her husband? Does Lexi regain lost friendships? Does Lexi remember and reassume her old role as a Director? Does Lexi become the person she wants to be?
You can only find out the answers to these questions by reading the book!

That was a pretty good book as well Missy. I actually am putting it back into my “to read” stack to see if I pick anything new up the second time around reading it. My favorite non-shopaholic book of hers though is Can You Keep A Secret. I was sad to hear the movie plans for that one were scrapped.
