There is hope if you want to change your body

I am not sure if you have seen the headlines on Yahoo! News, the Health Section, in the past day or two but there is great news if you have the obesity gene. A study conducted by a group of US researchers to see the effects physical exercise has on those that carry the obesity gene. The study used approximately 704 Amish people and found that even those that carried the gene were able to keep weight off as well as maintain a healthy weight if they exercised. According to the study, Amish people were chosen because they maintain an active lifestyle.

I find this to be extremely exciting. My brother is overweight and needs motivation every now and then. I think showing that exercise can overcome genes and medications is a great motivator as it shows that you can change and become healthy and happy. The only thing I’m not too sure about is whether or not to tell him how many hours a day these people engaged in physical exercise. According to one report, these study participants exerted 3-4 hours of physical activity each day. I believe though that anything is better than nothing so I will probably focus on the idea that you can change and not how many hours it takes each day to see a drastic change quickly.
