Oh Hurricane Ike, I’m just not that into you.

Here we go again.  Another day during Hurricane Season, another Hurricane aimed at the coast of Texas.  This time around it is Hurricane Ike and he seems to be a Hurricane I don’t want to meet in a dark alley.  So I am trying the old brush off line that has become popular over the years to see if Hurricane Ike might decide to change directions yet again and go a little further south.  I do have a vacation and flight that begins next Friday and I really don’t want some silly little storm to get into my way.

“Hurricane Ike, I’m just not that into you!”

If that doesn’t work, I am almost done gathering the hurricane supplies.  We have 4 flats of water right now and I am making sausage and rice this week which we can eat cold.  I think Mike still has some chef boyardee cans in the ice chest but I really need to take stock and see what we have and what I think we have that we don’t.  Batteries are taken care of as well as a battery operated radio.  I just need to get everything picked up off the floor and we should be good to go.  If we are without electricity for a day or two we have a few board games to play as well.  Let’s hope he moves fairly fast and without too much damage to the area.  I think they are predicting landfall early next week which means I need to see about moving up my hair appointment!

  1. I thought he was scheduled to hit Friday/Saturday of this week? No?

Becka is hoping we get to miss a day of school either Friday or Monday since we didn’t get out for Gustav. :)

I too need to go ahead and inventory I guess and make sure we are prepared just in case…our odds are a lot slighter than yours though.
