Are you planning for your financial future?
I have been reading a few wedding related books and magazines and the topic of finances, bills, and debt seem to come up quite often. In fact, in most wedding planning books, at least one entire chapter is related to getting you and your fiancee on the same financial page. Yowza!
Luckily, I think Mike and I are on the same page financially on most items. There are a few things we disagree on such as the timing of his student loan payback - I would rather pay it off as soon as possible and he’d rather pay it off on their time schedule. I guess you could contribute our differences to the fact that I do not have loans and he does and therefore he is more comfortable with debt that I am. I do think that I am going to talk to him about talking to someone so that he can Consolidate debt into one payment for his loans not 2 or 3 each month. Plus it might get his interest rates down so we can start throwing more money into our “first house” fund.
I found a great tool tonight that I wanted to share if you aren’t quite sure where you are financially especially when it comes to planning for your future. To be honest I wasn’t quite sure where I was in the grand scheme of things so I took this quick quiz on BillsIQ.com and scored a 93 A in knowing how to properly plan for my future. There were a few things I learned though that I hadn’t paid much attention to before: life insurance and creating a will. These are two things that caught my attention on the quiz and lowered my overall score. I think I will put these two things on my to-do list and see what I can learn about them this week and get moving into the completion direction.
