WordPress 2.6.1 Release- Are you upgrading?

This entry is part 12 of 17 in the series blogging

I logged into my admin panel late yesterday and noticed I had a message that WordPress version 2.6.1 is now available for download/upgrade. I thought before I pressed the link which would automatically upgrade my version of WordPress that I would actually do a little research unlike the past few releases. You know see what the new version is actually doing and if there have been any reported problems. So far I haven’t come across any problems with this version of WordPress but I have come across a lot of information that leads me to ask “Do I really need to bother upgrading?” It seems like this is a small patch for version 2.6.0 and is not addressing any major security issues or bugs. This patch is mainly focusing on a few small bugs international users were facing, a couple of random plugin issues, and load time when you are in your admin panel. You can read about the patch here. I think I am going to hold off a little longer to see if a new version is shortly behind this new release. I haven’t experienced any major issues with version 2.6.0 that would warrant an upgrade so I will keep with the old saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

  1. I upgraded. I would probably think that you should. I guess hackers tend to look for Wordpress blogs that were not upgraded. I read that somewhere…Can’t remember where though!

Simple Mindzs last blog post..Old Orchard Beach vacation, part 1.

  2. Curiosity got the best of me. I just finished the upgrade. Hopefully nothing around here crashes or is missing lol.

  3. So far, so good for me. No crashes or anything!
