Luna Bar Minis: a “mini” review
Luna bars are a great source of nutrition for women who are on the go and need a quick snack. They are packed with 20 vitamins and minerals, fairly low in calories and fat, and high in fiber. They come in quite a variety of flavors and don’t taste like your normal protein bar. I was quickly introduced to them 3 years ago by a coworker and the addiction has just grown. Regular sized luna bars range from 3-4 points a piece depending on the flavor you choose. My favorites are caramel nut brownie, chocolate pecan pie, and chocolate covered raspberries. So very tasty.
I was intrigued when I read in HungryGirl’s newsletter not too long ago that Luna had come out with a mini version of their bars that was less in points than the larger variety. I thought I might as well give them a shot. The variety pack contained 18 mini bars (6 each of the smores, nutz over chocolate, and caramel nut brownie flavors) and was around $14 for the pack. Not too shabby and they would be easy to throw in a bag as I headed to the gym and would be perfect for when I was snacky but couldn’t eat a full sized bar. Well the box came yesterday with my order and I have to admit I was a teeny bit disappointed. I thought the bars would be a little bigger than they actually are since the makers shaved 50 points from the full sized bars in these minis. They are actually less than half the size of the normal bars - about 3 bites in total. They are still good but I think I’d rather eat the full sized bar than waste 80 calories on something so small.
