Moving and everything that goes with it

Not sure about you but when I moved to Houston a few years ago I was so overwhelmed with everything that I needed to do in order to get my apartment set up and running as well as get everything related to my new job going that I totally forgot about some of the other important items. For example, finding medical professionals to replace for each of my health needs such as a general practitioner, ob/gyn, dentist, and dermatologist. In fact, it has actually taken three years now to find medical professionals in each of these areas that will meet my needs and have a standard of care that I am happy with. One thing I wished I would have done is asked my medical professionals back home for recommendations as well as starting sooner in the search here in Houston. There have been a few times now where I have had a pretty miserable issue pop up and had no where to turn except my local walgreens pharmacy and beauty/skincare section.

So if you are moving soon, do not be like me! Be proactive and ask for recommendations or start searching immediately when you move because you also have to consider that not all doctors are accepting new patients all the time. If you are moving to Iowa, I can at least help you with a dermatologist recommendation, Martin Sands, is accepting new patients. Dr. Sands is a graduate of the University of Iowa School of Medicine and performed his residency at the school’s hospital. Right now he is working in the Allen Hospital systems. He also accepts children so if you have any preteens give him a call.
