Traveling? Here are some useful tips/sites
There has been quite a buzz in the travel industry as of late. Mainly complaints about the rise in jet fuel causing an increase in air fares and now baggage fees. Unfortunately, rumors of additional increases and fees are still circulating around with early fall the projected time period for airlines to start implementing the latest round of fees. So what can you do to help combat these fees and stay on top of flight schedules? Well a good start after you visit your airline’s own web page and the TSA web page would be to visit the three sites noted below.
Flightstats.com -> A free service. Yipee! This site ends either an email or text alerts on flight statuses so you can stay on track and on time without wasting a lot of time! It sucks to get to the airport only to find out a flight was delayed or canceled. Now you can save your gas with these alerts and save your valuable time.
Flyclear.com -> This service runs approximately $100/year. This is perfect for the frequent flyer as it allows you to whiz past security points by flashing your card. You actually have to undergo a background check and a few other minor hoops but it is well worth it if you are constantly in the airports traveling.
Luggageforward.com & Luggagefree.com -> Theses are luggage forwared/delivery services. All you have to do is book 24/48 hours in advance for luggage pickup before you travel. The cost is based upon luggage amount, weight, and distance traveled and the luggage will arrive in your destination city about the same time you do!
