Long live the 80s!
Most people want to forget about the 1980s but I love remembering them. Yes at times the 80s were cheesy but at others they were just fun. One of my favorite ways to remember the 1980s is through movies. I remember watching 9 to 5 with my mother every time it came on tv. I just thought it was the funniest movie ever. What is even funnier is that I never really understood as a kid the sheer desire to put rat poison in your boss’s coffee until I started working. Can I tell you there have been many times since I started working in college that I would have loved to put rat poison in customer’s drinks at the batting cages. Oh how they would drive me up the wall but I just wasn’t able to muster the courage like Dolly and the gang did. Probably a good thing though.
If you are a fan of the 1980s and some of the awesome movies that came out of it then this should be right up your alley. The movie WarGames, a sci-fi thriller about a hacker who unwittingly gets the chance to play a game with the US Military’s war computer which starred Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. To help ring in this celebration, select theaters nationwide will be showing the movie on the big screen on Thursday, July 24th. This is a one time event and will include special features such as interviews with the film’s creators, the cast, and the crew on how the movie was ahead of its time and relevance. While you are there you will also get a sneak peak at the making of the sequel - WarGames: The Dead Code. Make sure you don’t miss out on this event!
