The Fight Against Breast Cancer

Posted under General by The Blonde Diaries on July 8th, 2008 10:37 pm

I first learned about the fight against breast cancer when I was in high school. My great aunt was diagnosed and immediately began and endured treatment for six months. Luckily, when it was all said and done she was declared to be in remission and has had no relapses since. Then in college I joined the sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. If you are unfamiliar with sororities, they are more than just weekend parties and hanging with fraternity boys. Most sororities have a local and a national charity they sponsor to help raise awareness and money for. My sorority was no different as our main cause was fighting for a cure to Breast Cancer with the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Today when I was doing my usual traffic exchanges I ran across a site that tugged at my heart and brought back my memories of working with my sorority sisters to help raise awareness for a cure. The site I found was Hollys Fund. Holly is a single mother who was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. Due to circumstances she couldn’t prevent, Holly also does not have medical insurance and due to this now being a pre-existing medical condition, she cannot obtain coverage. Luckily, Holly has a strong support network of friends and family and has strength in God. You can read about Holly and her journey on the website I posted above and leave her supporting comments as she faces this tough battle. If you feel inclined to donate more than your thoughts and prayers Holly and her support network is asking you to feel free to donate either her fund or the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Little by little we will find a cure for this disease!

  1. haha your first paragraph makes me think of my girlfriend. She’s always so defensive about her sorority even if I’ve not said anything. I guess she just assumes since I’m a hippie nerd that refuses to go to college because it’s a waste of time, and a waste of money that I think bad of sororities.

Anyways, that’s not the point at all. I just wanted to thank you for this post. It’s great to see other bloggers willing to help in spreading the word of Holly’s story! It is very much so appreciated.

  3. Hello and thanks for stopping by. I am glad Holly has both of you in her life as the strength you are providing for her is just invaluable. I hope that she experiences some positives in her life to counter balance these recent negatives.
