Wow! I totally thought that I was reading a rumor just now on my Disney message boards but I have found a few different sites announcing the same thing so maybe it is more than just a rumor. I haven’t been able to find anything official from Disney’s website but then again I don’t know if I really will find something official via their website.
So the latest Disney news that I read and saddened me was that Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom will no longer be a character dining meal starting January 4, 2009. I am super sad. I know there are lots of complaints about this restaurant among Disney fans but Mike and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the food theme, and well the characters. When we ate there in the past we had the characters make it around to our table 3 time and this is not a small restaurant! So far the menu is going to stay the same but minus characters walking around. I wonder if they have bigger plans in store and are just doing one change at a time. Either way I’m glad we will be going there for dinner in September before the change takes place.
The last bit of news is that the Garden Grill in Epcot will no longer serve lunch beginning October 6, 2008. This is my mom’s favorite restaurant to eat at and of course she likes to eat lunch there. I’m not sure why the change is taking place I just know that this is yet another character dining meal that is changing. My guess is maybe they just aren’t all that busy at lunch time but then again since i don’t go all that often to Disney that could totally not be the case. Again I find the food good there (everything is freshly grown at Disney that is served there) and the characters tend to make it around a few times while you dine. The way the restaurant rotates in a circle allows you to see different scenery as you eat and not feel as crowded as some restaurants. At least it is staying open for dinner and will not be experiencing a menu change as of now.
