Healthy Tip #6

This entry is part 6 of 10 in the series Healthy Tips

So I’m really trying to be successful this time around on Weight Watchers. I actually went to the meetings for about three months last fall but I just was not ready to make a change. I thought having to go and weight in front of a group of people would hold me accountable but it did not. I think the reasoning was because I didn’t have a relationship or connection with any of these people. This time around I am having Mike hold me accountable and a few fellow posters both here in my blog and also on one of my message boards. So far it has been working. I hate the idea of telling these “friends” that I cheated or did poorly with my eating habits. My willpower has been amazing so far. One other thing that has helped are these healthy tips I’ve been finding and posting. I actually used this tip yesterday and it totally worked. Staring at the candy wrapper all day long kept me away from the candy jar at work. It was just a small 3 Musketeer bar (the mini size) but it was enough to keep me from having a second or third piece. If the candy jar is your weakness see if this tip will help you.

A study at Cornell University found that people who saved their candy wrappers on their desk eat about 1/2 as many candies over the course of a few hours vs. people who throw them immediately into the trash.

Visually seeing what you have eaten makes you double think picking up another piece.

To avoid bugs don’t forget to throw those wrappers away when you walk out the door to go home for the day ;)

Seeing is Believing

I am blessed with good eye sight at the moment. I attribute it to the large quantities of carrots I ate growing up with my friend who was undergoing chemotherapy and was only allowed healthy treats. I’m sure it has more to do with genetics than anything else but I like keeping the carrot myth going ;)

Mike on the other hand has had quite the battle with his eye sight ever since he was younger. He has mentioned having LASIK done quite a few times since we first started dating. I have to admit I do not know much about LASIK and the whole thought of having surgery performed on my eyes or anyone else’s sorta freaks me out. I do want to be supportive though so I have begun to gather LASIK information so that I can be informed about the procedure and what to expect. So far I have learned some interesting things about the procedure. I did not know that LASIK is a surgical procedure that is performed 100% by laser technology which allows it to be relatively fast and painless. Less than 1% of the people who have the LASIK surgery experience any serious complications. Most complications include dry eyes which are easily fixed with eye drops. The number one thing I picked up from my reading has been that the best LASIK patients do their own research about the procedures by asking friends, family, and doctors for referrals and what to expect. Being an informed patient really pays off for LASIK patients. I feel much more comfortable and confiedent in Mike’s desire to have LASIK now that I am further informed. If you want to learn more about LASIK check out thelasikfacts.com where you can become and stay informed about LASIK and the technology around it.

Navigating Disney Rides: Aerosmith Rock ‘n Roller Coaster

Posted under Disney, Travel by Catherine on July 31st, 2008 9:44 pm
This entry is part 3 of 7 in the series Navigating WDW Rides

I wanted to post one more video tonight for Cameron to watch before her trip to Disney next week. I am not too sure if I will catch her before she leaves but I wanted to make sure she saw this ride video. This is another one of my favorite rides at Disney. This ride is located in the Disney Hollywood Studios park and from what I understand was featured in the latest Jonas Brothers video. What ride is it?? Aerosmith Rock ‘n Roller Coaster. It is a fast and fun roller coaster set to play Aerosmith hits the entire duration of the ride.

About the ride: This is a pretty fast ride that lasts 1 minute or a little less. The ride is very dark so it is not for those who are scared of the dark. There is one loop where you briefly go upside down but it lasts just a couple of seconds and you are securely strapped into the ride so there is no fear of falling out. There are signs and bright lights throughout the ride so make sure you don’t keep your eyes closed the whole time. Open them to enjoy the surroundings. Remember you are in a limo trying to make it to the concert.

The video below of course is much longer because it shows some of the preshow and was done by the Travel Channel who showed parts of the ride but did not actually video while on the ride. Hope you enjoy and hope it helps you make the decision to try this awesome ride.

Choices, Choices

Posted under diet by Catherine on July 31st, 2008 9:34 pm

I know I have only been on my diet plan for less than a week and have been exercising consistently for the past two weeks but I am impatient. I have a vacation coming up in about eight weeks and I will be taking tons of pictures with my fiancee Mike so that we will have pictures of the two of us to display in scrapbooks and on the sign in table at our wedding reception. With that said, I am going to “cheat” a little and add some diet pills into my diet. I just cannot stand that I waited too long to get serious about my diet and I do not want to look pudgy and chubby in my photos so I am going down the diet pill route. Right now I am doing research to find the Best Diet Pills that are safe and affordable. I thought about taking Alli but I am a tad nervous about the side effects. I would prefer something that was not as worrisome as Alli since I do work 9 hours a day away at home and with a room full of males. I really do not want to explain what is going on if something happens. I have heard good things about Hoodia diet pills and Ephedra-free pills. I am using a site right now called Prices Exposed that rates the best diet pills out there on the market in terms of weight loss rating, overall rating, and prices. This site helps you find the lowest price on the internet so that you are not spending a fortune on diet pills that you are trying for the very first time. They also offer a free newsletter that offers diet, exercise, and supplemental guidance to help you lose weight in a fast and safe way. Visit them today if you are like me and want a safe and easy way to lose a few pounds before vacation.

Navigating Disney Rides: Test Track

Posted under Disney by Catherine on July 31st, 2008 8:30 pm
This entry is part 2 of 7 in the series Navigating WDW Rides

Today I found a video of Test Track at the special request of my friend Kimberly who is taking her family to Disney in just 7 days. Super Lucky! Can I tell you I am jealous. I would love nothing more than to pack up from work and escape until the quarter ends and then come back lol. Kimberly has a 16 year old and a 7 year old and is trying to prepare the younger daughter, Cameron, for the larger rides at Disney. Cameron has never been on Test Track and this ride is one of my favorites so I wanted to find a video to show her that it is a fabulous ride that she shouldn’t miss next week.

About the ride: You will go through a simulation of 6 or 7 tests just like cars do during their crash tests and model tests before they are marketed to us, the public. The ride is a little bumpy but nothing to terrible that should worry you. I will say to make sure you have your hats and sunglasses stored securely before the ride starts because at the end your really fly around a track and you don’t want to lose those items.
