Wow. Just Wow.
I realize this story is kinda old. I mean it came out in April but I was catching up on a message board I use to frequent before life got in the way and I found a discussion on it. I don’t want to repost the entire story but I will share the link here “Parents Fight Over Which Gang Toddler Should Join“. The gist of the story is that a couple were fighting over how to raise their child. Normally, I would assume this to be philosophical things like spanking vs. not spanking, discipline vs. free spirited, choice of church. In this case it was which gang we will raise our child in - Crips vs. Westside Ballers. I’m sorta familiar with the Crips since I did have to do a project in college on gangs and their symbols thanks to my teammates but the Westside Ballers must either be fairly new or localized to certain areas of the country.
But… maybe it is because I have absolutely no experience in this but I didn’t realize it was that big of a deal nor that you need to make this determination at such a young age (the child is 4). I just assumed this was something kids decided on their own when they got old enough. The father actually threatened to kill the mother over this! Wow! Just Wow!
I’ll just chalk this up to the I learn something new everyday category.

From a certain perspective it could be viewed as a modern Westside Story
Someone from HBO or Showtime will be buying the rights before the year is over.
