I am so excited right now. My wedding planning dreams are becoming a reality. Today, I was able to knock the reception location off of my to-do list (ie booked and deposit paid!). I’ve been keeping it under wraps with most of my friends and extended family but today I can officially announce that Mike and I will be having our reception at the Houston Zoo!!! It is going to be fabulous. I still do not have really good pictures of the room but I think it will just mean another trip over there to visit the critters and see the site. lol Luckily, we are zoo members so we can go at any time for free and just wander through during a normal visit.
I was a tiny bit sad though because I learned that the otters will not be out that night because they “bunker down” for the night behind the scenes. Not sure why they have to go in for the night (it is an enclosed area and they have sleeping areas) but I’m sure there is a good reason.
I found a few pictures on the zoo’s website to share.
Entrance to building

Inside entrance

Inside set up with a few tables

So I’m excited. Of course more photos will come. I think the next thing on my list will be getting the cake and photographer situated. I am a teeny bit scared of the flower people so that is on the bottom of my list for right now.

Hi, sorry for the randomness… but I am going to suggest to my fiance to have our wedding at the zoo. I just came across the idea today and I really hope he goes for it. So how was it. Again I am sorry a total stranger is prying into your life but I can’t help it. Any suggestions?
Thanks & congrats

I really enjoyed having the unique location but the staff there for special events left much to be desired. Just make sure to get everything in writing and don’t be afraid to push back if they try to change things on you midway through the planning process.
Oh and everyone really enjoyed having the animals running around in the exhibits. We were told there wouldn’t be any out but there were a ton of fish and then little mammels running around in the exhibits. They were very lively at night so it worked out well.
