Fighting the weight battle
Fighting your weight is never fun. I have fought my weight since I was 16 and it is a very long and tiring battle. Luckily for me I never have to battle more than 20-25 pounds at a time and once I get going it comes off pretty easily. For others though its not so easy and the pounds can be much higher. My brother is one of those people who has tried and tried and can’t seem to get his weight down. Unfortunately, his battle is not easy because he is on a medicine that causes weight gain so it is very disheartening.
Lately, he has been discussing Lap-Band surgery. I am not too familiar with the process so it has me a bit worried. I did some research today though since I was being lazy and found that the surgery is actually an outpatient procedure and completely reversible meaning after you lose the weight you want and learn healthy eating and exercise habits you can have it removed without major problems. Knowing that it is reversible has set my mind at ease a bit. I know the procedure is not one for me but I think it might help my brother gain some self-confidence and healthy habits if he does decide to try it. I think I will help him find a lap band physician so that he can talk to a physician who has expertise in this area so that he can have an evaluation and see if he is a candidate for the surgery and get any and all of his questions answered in advance. Based on what I have read I think the Lap-Band surgery is a good thing.
