Mike and I have been hearing now is the time to buy a house for practically one year now. While I agree it is foolish to pay in rent what a house payment would be I’m just not sure now is the right time for us. With the current state of the economy, credit crunch, and falling housing prices maybe its better for us to wait a little longer. I have to admit I really don’t know the first thing about buying a house and I don’t want to rely on Mike to make all the decisions since he has done this before.
What I want to do is what our mutual friend is doing – reading books on buying a house and being financially prepared for this, finding a Realtor that we can trust, and finally looking into reputable mortgage lenders so that I can be fully involved in the process and we aren’t blindly walking into buying a house because we “should”.
I think for starters I’ll see if there is a Buying a Home for Dummies book or something similar and if you have any good recommendations please leave me a comment!
