Ring Watch ‘08 Update

Posted under Wedding by Catherine on April 29th, 2008 7:44 pm
This entry is part 1 of 18 in the series Wedding Planning

I thought it would be fun to track my Ring Watch ‘08.  Basically this is my countdown/up from the day Mike and I got serious about a 2009 wedding and went ring shopping. I found the most perfect ring so now he just has to give it to me!  So without any pressure (lol) here’s the official ticker.  I’m not so patiently waiting but figure I need to learn so patience so that I can be excited once it does happen.  Nothing worse than to build up all of this excitement and then get to the big event and feel deflated.

Getting ready for the weekend

Posted under Travel by Catherine on April 24th, 2008 8:44 pm

In college we always joked that the weekend officially started after classes on Thursday. I’m not quite sure why other than drink specials started up Thursday night at the local bars which in turn induced class skipping on Fridays.  I was always scared about skipping class so I rarely skipped, even on Fridays after a night out.

I’ve found though that the whole concept of the weekend starting on Thursday has continued in my professional career.  I think the fact that Fridays are jeans day and my client leaves at noon (thus a peaceful afternoon) has helped continue this mind set of mine.  So tonight I’m here at home getting ready for the weekend by packing a suitcase.  On my schedule this weekend is a trip back home with Mike so that I can make my cousin’s wedding shower on Sunday and just so we can get out of town.  I made a quick trip back for Easter but Mike didn’t get to join me so he hasn’t been to see Murphf or my family since sometime last fall.  I know Murphf is excited over this.  I’m not quite sure what we will be doing once we get there other than the shower on Sunday but hopefully the weather is nice so that we have lots of outdoor options.  I wouldn’t mind taking a stroll around LSU’s Greek Row which is on a beautiful lake and maybe a trip to the super sized Wholefoods for tasty gelato.  I’m sure Mike is just looking forward to cable and dirty job reruns.

Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend with good weather.  I’ll report back what we end up doing and where we end up going Monday :)

Woo Hoo! Starting to see some results

This entry is part 3 of 23 in the series Weight Watcher Updates

I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for 7 weeks now (middle of 8th week as we speak). To me, I have not seen any visible changes in my body shape but I know I am losing something somewhere as I’m down 6 pounds and have been lifting weights to firm up. I’m gradually seeing my little muscles poking out so I know its working.

Well I finally got fed up with wearing black or gray pants to work. I decided for kicks and giggles to try on a pair of my khakis that I bought last November/December which were the same style and brand of the black and grays but for some reason fit a little more snuggly. So after letting them sit for almost 5 months in my closet I took them out and tried them on again and guess what…

They are no longer too tight!!! Victory at last. So now I have khakis to rotate into my wardrobe. I’m hoping soon enough I can retry on all my old summer skirts and get back into wearing them. Pants get really dull and boring after a while. So I am motivated to keep going and see what else I can fit back into after long periods of time. I can’t wait to get back into my fabulous jeans and capris.

So lesson learned: you can see small differences with just a small weight loss. Every pound counts.

Disney Trip Update

Posted under Disney, Travel by Catherine on April 23rd, 2008 9:14 pm

Its been a while since I’ve updated my Disney Trip plans. When I last left off, I had just finished making my Advanced Dining Reservations at exactly the 180 day mark. So since then (that was Easter Sunday), I have officially changed my reservations from package deal with dining (us paying for all meals) to free dining (Disney paying) and saved over $500!!! Additionally, we have booked our flights on Southwest using my Amex points so we are all set. Then I added a reservation at Raglan Road in Downtown Disney for our arrival night so that we can enjoy some authentic Irish food and entertainment. I’m looking forward to that. :)

So what’s next? Fun Disney books to get us excited! Last week I ordered The Walt Disney World Trivia Books Vol 1 & 2 and the 3rd edition of the Walt Disney World Hidden Mickeys book. I thought these would be good for building up excitement before, during, and after our trip. I’m also working on building up my endurance. Once I get off the injured reserve list I will be hitting up the gym again and doing a run/walk routine. I also need to finish building my disney wardrobe, get my digital camera fixed, and schedule our photopass session at either the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian. The planning just never stops! Until next time.

Summer Beauty Buys

Posted under Beauty by Catherine on April 22nd, 2008 11:07 pm

I am super excited that it is offically spring and summer is right around the corner. I know most people in the south don’t really look forward to the summer (especially here in Texas with 96+ degree heat and humidity) but I do. Why you may ask… because it means I can pull out my summer makeup. :) Fall and winter nudes/browns while they are pretty just aren’t as fun as summery golds and bronzers.

So my favorite summer items are:

  • Cargo eye shadow duo in Corsica (blue and shimmery gold)
  • Stila eye shadows in Prize (gold) and Moonlight (white)
  • Too Faced duo in Denim and Diamonds (blue and white)
  • Stila eye shadow in Cassia paired up with Urban Decay’s Stalker (Shimmery Purple)

But while you are lightening up your eyes don’t forget you need to lighten up your lips as well.  Pale lip glosses rather than dark lipsticks should do the trick.  I tend to stick with Stila lip glaze in grapefruit or my Too Faced Lip Smacker in a pale but bright pink.  The rest of your makeup should be fine going from winter to summer if you go with a basic neutral shades and light to medium weighted foundations.

If makeup is not your thing but you want to welcome in summer don’t forget to check out the Philosophy 3-in-1s.  They have a wide range of scents and I just finished my Double Rich Hot Chocolate one and will be opting for Frozen Lemon Custard for the summer months.   Lightening up your bath soap like this can be a lot of fun as well!
