Chick Lit

Author: Catherine  /  Category: Entertainment

Nothing beats getting swept away by a good book whether it is a work of fiction or nonfiction. I have two genres that I normally stick to: British Classics (Austen & Bronte mainly) and Chick Lit. I will admit it is kind of a weird combination at first but once you delve into both genres you find there are similarities between the two with the main difference being the setting and the language used due to the time period.

Usually I have no problems finding friends, family, coworkers, internet boards to discuss the “classics” I reread with but Chick Lit is a whole ‘nother story. I’m not sure if its because there are so many authors and books available to read that I can’t find one that fits my favorites, the confusion as to what is considered chick lit vs. fiction vs. romance books, maybe its just that people don’t want to admit they read it, or maybe its just because it hasn’t found its home yet on the web. But in any case I feel as if there is a void on the internet right now that needs attention. So on that note I think I’ll just start discussing the books I reread each week on here starting with my all time favorite: Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella.

I’m reading “Lipstick Jungle” by Candace Bushnell right now. Does that count?

Yes! I have not read that one yet. How are her books in general?

Love Chick Let here. I really enjoyed the shopaholic series and the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich (I’m rereading those now). Just started reading the James Patterson Women’s Murder Club series too. :) Seems I tend to lean toward books that are part of a series. I’d love to find some new authors so I look forward to your discussions.
