Game Night Eats

One of the first things you will learn about me and my boyfriend from a getting to know you chat is that we LOVE going to Buffalo Wild Wings for date night once a week. Our top reasons are as follows:

1. ice cold draft beer - you cannot beat the first sip of a tall bud light draft anywhere else. It is heavenly

2. Chicken Chili Nachos - we were skeptical when we first ordered these but now they are a must each week

3. Buzztime Trivia - nothing like a little competition between the two of us and some of the other “regulars” each week. We get fairly competitive with people we don’t even know but we “see” them playing at our BWW each week. One day we will figure out who Squish and Gonzo are.

As much as we love our local BWW and our favorite waiter (he knows our order - all 3 parts and spaces them out excellently for us) we cannot go every night of the week. The calories and the cost would just be too much for us. So we have tried to do a moc date night at home since it is football season and it turned out pretty well so I wanted to share. :)

Chicken Chili Nachos - lightened up

- frozen tyson grilled chicken breast pieces (diced variety will do)

- shredded lettuce

- salsa (your favorite variety)

- Queso/Cheese sauce from chip aisle (jar - I was surprised how “light” these can be if you stick with the serving size. Get the jar variety not the can.)

- 98% fat free turkey chili with beans

- Light Tostidos chips

- jalapenos if you wish

- Lite Sour Creme if you wish

1. Spread a thin layer of chips on the bottom of a paper plate.

2. Heat up a couple of tablespoons of chili and cheese in microwave. Lightly drizzle over the chips.

3. Drizzle 1 to 2 tablespoons of salsa next.

4. Defrost some diced chicken in the microwave (about 2 mins for 1/4 cup) and place on top of chips.

5. Top with your shredded lettuce and possibly jalepenos & sour creme.

Boneless “Wings”

The easiest way to make wings is to cut some raw chicken tenders in half and coat with shake and bake. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes. Serve with your favorite barbeque sauce. If you are a BWW addict like myself you can actually purchase the sauces there for your own home use.

And for a small Bonus:

Do-It-Yourself Buzztime Game: QB1

The QB1 game is pretty cool. You play it along with the NFL game of the week on Sunday night and Monday nights. Basically you try to guess the play before it happens (offensive only) and you score points. You score points based on how accurate of a guesser you are once the play runs. The more accurate you are the more points you get. To keep things simple though we did 1 point per each part we got right.

So in order to make your own game to play at home you will need some index cards, a pen, and some scissors. Cut index cards in half and place the following words on one half (one word per half): pass, run, short, deep, left, right, middle. For each play you will pick either pass or run. If its a pass you will then pick short (10 yards or less) or deep (11 + yards) and then which side of the field - left, right, middle. If its a run then you will pick left, right, or middle with it.
